|
| | | What is a Christmas Surprise Package?
A smile and a hug that comes in a box filled with signed game books from available Palladium staff and freelancers. It is a way for you to get physical books (and autographs if you want them) at PDF prices! $105+ worth of Palladium products for only $62 (plus shipping)! That can nab you 4-6 books, and these days one core rule book can cost you that or more.
Christmas Surprise Packages are our way of saying thank you for your support and showing you our love and appreciation. It’s a surprise because you never know exactly what you’re going to get or who will sign your books, because we pick from your Wishlist and may surprise you with stuff you are not expecting. Extra items may include other RPGs, sourcebooks, issues of the Rifter®, miniatures, prints, art books, poker deck, notepad, greeting cards, T-shirts, and other items. Some books may be slightly damaged (scuffs, scratches, dings, a bent or crunched corner, etc.) so we can send you more.
No other RPG company on the planet has an offer like this. Truly the best deal in gaming to get unique and special holiday gifts for the gamers in your life, or for yourself.
Christmas Surprise Packages are not just for Christmas. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or the Winter Solstice, or you are looking for that special gift for a birthday, anniversary, graduation, or any special occasion that falls between now and the end of the year, a Surprise Package may be the ideal way to go. You get a ton of stuff on the cheap, you can get a bunch of autographs (if you want ‘em), and you look like you spent a fortune.
This is a great way to try that game setting you’ve wondered about – After the Bomb®, Beyond the Supernatural, Chaos Earth®, Dead Reign®, Heroes Unlimited, Ninjas & Superspies, Palladium Fantasy, Nightbane®, Rifts®, RECON, Splicers®, Systems Failure, etc. — or to get something for your favorite Game Master. Or perhaps, to get your player group to consider a new game or setting.
Your “Wishlist” is vital – the Palladium Surprise Packages are designed to simulate the joy and surprise of the Christmas Season of Giving. To do this, you submit a list of 12-15 Palladium products (or more) FOR EACH Surprise Package you order. This list of 12-15 items for EACH Grab Bag is critical, because you will not know which items we will select to send you. That makes it just like a Christmas gift because it’s a surprise. Plus, Surrogate Santa, Kevin, who personally hand-picks every item for every Grab Bag, may toss in something extra like a limited edition print, notepad, negative, an issue of The Rifter®, or something else he thinks you’ll enjoy.
Autographed books. For those of you who want them (which are most people), available members of the Palladium staff, and any freelancers we can lasso at the time, are happy to autograph each and every book in your Surprise Package. This is the only way many fans across the country and overseas can ever get signed books.
Send us your brief comments. There is a special form and format to fill out for Christmas Surprise Packages, including a place where you can offer your brief comments, suggestions, greetings and salutations.
Please spread the word. The Christmas Surprise Package is only publicized by word of mouth, on Palladium’s website, and social media, so please tell everyone you know. Buy one for every gamer you know. They make astonishing gifts for every occasion. Only from PalladiumBooks.com – happy holidays.
NOTE: TMNT books are too new to include in the Surprise Packages. We hope you understand. Order soon to get in time for Christmas. |

| | | Palladium Collectibles – at Kevin’s Online Toy & Collectibles eBay Store |
|
| Palladium collectibles as well as action figures and other items from Kevin Siembieda’s personal collection are on sale!
One-of-a-kind Palladium Books negatives are always very popular items at the Palladium Open House, Gen Con, and conventions, and are catching on as rare collectibles, unique in and of themselves. Last year at Granite State Comic Con Kevin Eastman had TMNT negatives from the first comic book on display.
Before digital printing, pages of a book were laid out by hand on a board, and each page was photographed. These are the photographic negatives being sold as individual works of art and collectibles. When matted or framed on a white background they look like dynamic wood cut prints. And they are on sale right now! |

| | | | Ninja Turtles Mania
Holy Turtle Soup, people are going absolutely crazy over the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Other Strangeness Redux RPG and Transdimensional Adventures and we’re loving it. The Kickstarter rewards too (dice sets, miniature sets, print sets, poker deck, etc.), but people are especially over the moon with the books. I’ve been fielding phone calls, texts, and emails from friends and fans alike, plus there are all kinds of posts online of unboxings and excited talk about the Redux books. Sean and I will be talking more about TMNT and game design on Legion of Myth this Sunday, starting at 9 AM Eastern.
In short, they are floored by the coffee table quality of the books, the art, the color work, the tribute art pages, the clean layout, as well as the small but appreciated tweaks, additions, and rule clarifications. Writer and game designer Carmen Bellaire called to rant and rave about the art, color, and quality. It was very fun because he was like a little kid on Christmas morning; he was so excited and happy. Freelance writer Glen Evans, and my pal Todd Spencley were likewise over the moon with the books (he got the 2 Black, White, and Red editions). He was very sweet to say he had a new favorite TMNT illustration in the tribute section of the RPG, my illustration of the Turtles battling Doctor Feral and his henchmen. They are all so good it’s hard for me to pick one favorite TMNT splashpage – Jim Lawson, Sophie Campbell, Eric Talbot, Freddie E. Williams II, Ciro Nieli (I mean, Ciro’s the mastermind behind the 2012 CGI TMNT series that I loved!), Mike Rooth, Ramon K. Perez, and all the rest are fantastic!
And there is more incredible splash page tribute art in the Transdimensional Adventures book by the likes of David Petersen (okay, that is one of my and Sean’s faves), Fero Pe, Vincenzo Federici, Wayne Breaux Jr., Apollo Okamura, John Zeleznik, and others!
Sean loves to say that the interior color art is the same quality as the covers, and he is correct. That was a deliberate choice by him and me, and it was worth every penny. You can thank Michael Majestic for the majority of the fabulous color artwork, but other big name artists also contributed to the books. They are the indomitable Luis Antonio Delgado, the incredible Sophie Campbell, and the astonishing Jeremy Colwell. I also have to call out Jeremy Colwell for ALL the gray and red art in the Black, White, and Red editions. He blew our minds when he sent in the first 5-6 samples illos. Gorgeous. In addition, many of the Tribute artists did their own color work and they all knocked it out of the park.
Fun facts & secrets:
1. All the Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird art created for the original TMNT RPG books back in 1985 and 1986 were made specifically for the RPG books, including the 28 pages of TMNT comic strip stories and mutant animals! Peter Laird did the cover and interior artwork for the original After the Bomb sourcebook. Kevin Eastman did the cover for Mutants Down Under and Jim Lawson did all the interior art for it and the original Transdimensional TMNT sourcebook, as well as some monsters in Rifts Coalition War Campaign. Eric Talbot did artwork for Adventures in the Northern Wilderness way back when.
2. Kevin Eastman created the Karai illustration for the Redux RPG.
3. The two Eastman and Laird variant foil covers for the Redux editions were created special for the Kickstarter campaign. They did it out of their love and appreciation of the fans, Palladium Books, and the original RPG books. It was a joy to see these two maestros working together again for this passion project. Gosh, I love those two guys.
4. The super-busy Kevin Eastman insisted on doing the variant RPG Redux cover. I adore that cover art.
5. Even though Palladium held the TMNT license for 15 years, Kevin Siembieda’s two tribute pages are his first, official illustrations of the Ninja Turtles. I also did some new mutant animal illustrations colored by my new pal and collaborator, Sophie Campbell.
6. Sophie Campbell did two tribute illustrations and runs ongoing Palladium campaigns. Can you guess her three favorite settings? They are TMNT/After the Bomb/Heroes Unlimited, Rifts, and Palladium Fantasy. In fact, you can see homages to the TMNT RPG and After the Bomb in her IDW TMNT comic book run as writer (the After the Bomb band, the Weasels, etc.). Oh, and she first discovered the Ninja Turtles when she bought a copy of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Other Strangeness RPG. She discovered the comic books later.
7. Ciro Nieli’s introduction to the TMNT was also Palladium’s RPG! He couldn’t find gamers to run a campaign, so he created 80+ mutant animals because Erick Wujcik’s animal creation rules and tables were so fast, easy and fun. (They still are in the Redux edition.) The Newtralizer is one of those characters!
8. The first RPG Sean Owen Roberson ever owned was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Other Strangeness RPG. The Redux Editions are a dream come true.
9. Freddie E. Williams II and Kevin Siembieda are old pals. A friendship that started when I recognized Freddie’s talent and gave him his first professional illustration job. He has art in numerous Rifts books, Fantasy, and other titles.
10. We did the Redux Editions not just for Ninja Turtles fans of every stripe, but as a tribute to our friends Erick Wujcik, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. The books are designed to appeal to all TMNT fans, not just gamers.
Enjoy and please spread the word about the return of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Other Strangeness RPG. And let people know that although it is an RPG, it’s suitable for comic book collectors and all TMNT fans everywhere.

| Surprise Package comments from fans like you |
|
| Every year we like to post a selection of the comments we get from Surprise Package customers. It’s a nice acknowledgement and thank you to them (you know who you are) and you enjoy reading them. I read each and every comment that comes in the Surprise Packages, and they always brighten my day. We all appreciate your kind words, suggestions, and insights. In fact, the idea to do hardcover editions of core rule books came from fan comments in the Grab Bags. We get a lot so we can only offer a sampling of these comments in the Weekly Updates.
Our heartfelt thanks to all of you who have stuck with Palladium through thick and thin and now these new chaotic times. Please use our games to find escape from your day to day grind and worries. Use them to bring a little joy, laughter, and adventure to the holiday season and beyond.
Your comments and support mean the world to all of us. Thank you for making us smile and feel valued. As always, I have tried to write a short response [in brackets] to each comment. Happy holidays.
