It is the long Memorial Day weekend here in the USA, so I will keep this Update short as I’m sure many of you have plans for fun in the sun. Drive safe, don’t eat or drink too much, and have some fun. According to weather forecasters it looks like most of us can expect a beautiful, sunny and warm weekend, so enjoy yourselves.

Please also take a moment to stop and think about every person who has ever served in the military to keep us safe, and offer up a little prayer of gratitude. In my book that includes first responders past and present. The United States of America, like we ourselves, is far from perfect, but also like most of us, it strives to be something great. Something good. Something of which we can all be proud. That’s worth a moment of reflection and thanks to the people who have made the ultimate sacrifice in support of the American ideal and the betterment of our lives.

So let me say it, thank you for your service. You are remembered and appreciated. Everyday I try to pay it forward by working to be the best person I can be: More understanding, patient, kinder, always creative and appreciative of everything I have. In my own small way I try to make the world a better, gentler place. I hope we all do what we can to make our country and the world better. Consider supporting this Kickstarter and save lives

Relief in the Congo for God's Children from Human Trafficking (RIGHT) is conducting another Kickstarter to raise money for a great cause. Please support Building Resilience in the Congo (BRIC), a group that rescues, educates, protects, and sustains young boys and girls, as well as young women and young men who would otherwise fall victim to regional warlords and rebels. These villains regularly take children and teenagers from their homes and force them into slave labor, or to become child-soldiers and sex workers against their will.

Slavery and sex trafficking are unfathomably cruel and all too real. A pledge as small as $5 or $10 can make a profound difference to these children and young adults.

I personally know the people running this Kickstarter. They are good folks, and ALL the money (after Kickstarter’s fees) go toward building better, stronger, higher defensive walls around a compound that helps, protects and educates young boys and girls rescued from slavery. Many of the people running the program onsite in the African Congo are former child-soldiers and abused females themselves. People who were either rescued and received help themselves or miraculously found their way back to something of a normal life. Now they are trying to rescue and save other children from a similar fate.

The funds of this particular fund-raiser will go to the construction of a defensive concrete wall, a schoolhouse, and iron gate to protect the children and teenagers rescued from this horrific life.

Palladium Collectibles – at Kevin’s Online Toy & Collectibles eBay Store

I am adding new collectibles and Palladium negatives over the next several weeks, so check ‘em out. Alex and I will try to post new items on a regular basis, so check in every week or so to see what’s new.

One-of-a-kind Palladium Books negatives (special and rare collectibles). Negatives are always very popular items at the Palladium Open House, Gen Con, and conventions, and are catching on as rare collectibles, unique in and of themselves. Before digital printing, pages of a book were laid out by hand on a board, and each page was photographed. The plastic film negatives were then “ganged” on a massive sheet of Mylar, 16 pages per big sheet, and the printing plates were made from the negatives – everything white, printing black. We have been cutting them loose and making them available to you. I am only keeping a few dozen pages of negatives and a few complete books for myself, the rest are all being slowly offered to you, in no particular order.

  • Each is truly unique, attractive, and fun to have.
  • Own a piece of Palladium Books and RPG history you will treasure.
  • Each was used to print the very book you may have in your collection (1981-2004).
  • Each signed in silver ink by Kevin Siembieda, the founder and owner of Palladium Books. He is also the game designer and often the author or co-author of the book from which the negative originates. And some negatives bear his artwork.
  • Each signed negative comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
  • Each signed negative is a one-of-a-kind work of art (on rare occasions, two-of-a-kind if a page or section of pages were replaced or a second edition was made) that resembles woodcut art, and a very dynamic conversation piece.
  • Each signed negative is on a white board inside a clear plastic bag.
  • Negatives looks fabulous matted or framed! Fits in an 8x10 inch matt opening. Each neg is roughly 8½ x 11 inches.
  • Prices vary depending on the title, the art, and quality of the negative. Note: Many have scratches, or blemishes, and/or an opaque medium on the negative. Still, they look great and are a piece of RPG history. We recommend you carefully examine the photographs of each item to avoid disappointment.
  • We have been making the negatives available, in no particular order, for a number of years, and will continue to do so. However, cutting them loose, signing and bagging is a time consuming process.
  • Note: The negatives from the TMNT RPG, TMNT Adventures, and some Rifts® titles are already sold out. Moreover, the negatives from many titles were destroyed, so when you see one you like, get it when you can. Enjoy.

Original art – My Ebay store is one of the few places where you can find original artwork by me (Kevin Siembieda), Kevin Long, Charles Walton, and others, as well as one-of-a-kind negatives from classic Palladium books (they look awesome framed), and other Palladium memorabilia. Some are concept sketches, others are finished works of art, as well as a selection of prints and posters.

Closing Thoughts – Happy Summer and Memorial Day

Springtime signals rebirth and renewal as we head into the warm, sunny days of summer. The daylight hours are longer, there’s plenty of work to do and fun to be had, and there’s a palpable energy and sense of new life as we shake off the long winter. That’s an excellent metaphor for Palladium Books and how Sean and I feel – heck, all of us here are feeling about Palladium these days. And we are about to explode onto the new release scene with several summer products.

Palladium is coming out of a very long, proverbial winter into a productive spring and a summer filled with new products and excitement. Kickstarter fulfilment makes Rifts® Titan Robotics (epic), The Cyberworks Collection (cool and useful), and The Cyberworks poker deck (everyone loves its look and feel) available in June. The Revised and Expanded Yin-Sloth Jungles fantasy world book will also see release in June and it is truly expanded and updated. That’s just June. Those products will be followed by the reveal of a new Palladium website, Rifts® Bestiary Volume 2, Rifts® Antarctica, another Kickstarter, a huge announcement, and ... well, a number of other cool products. Moreover, we are exploring several business opportunities that should result in more products and excitement in the months ahead.
