Any one still running RT games?

Whether it is a Veritech or a Valkyrie, Robotech or Macross II, Earth is in danger eitherway. Grab your mecha and fight the good fight.

Any one still running RT games?

Unread post by Marcethus »

I was just curious are there many on here still running RT.? Don't matter if it is 1e or 2e just a general check on the status of the RPG in general.
Edit: This includes Macross II.

I know a few Discord communities with Palladium or SMG versions running.

I still ocaisionaly run 2e games at conventions. Since I am down to one convention a year that comes out about 2 games every 3 years...Players really like the UEEF Marine group I created for Shadow Chronicles / Sentinels. Cyclones are lots of fun and I modeled the pre-gens on the characters from Halo ODST and the animated Roughnecks Starship Troopers series. That said my most requested game is Macross era but, I have not run or played in a regular RT game in like 30 years, and that 1e Sentinels and Invid Invasion.

Against that power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once, we will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.”

I cut my teeth GMing with RT 1e. I had the original rulebook and my gf and her mom bought me RDF Manual, Zentraedi, and the Ghost Ship adventure and I GMed a group of 5 other players. I made a lot of mistakes but most of those are when I look back at what I allowed the players to do. One of my players was a mechanic/engineer in real life and was able to explain things in a reasonable manner as to why his Mechanical Engineer character should be able to build various things and improvements. But at least my players and I had fun.

not currently, although one of our groups GM's started running a heroes unlimited, campaign, with the characters being from essentially today and all of our chars fall under megahero

My char got a transformation required weakness, but the gm changed it, so my char basically transforms into a human sized Metal Siren.
I got some additional super abilities, and one of them was a disguise/additional transformation ability that got tweaked so my char can transform into any Valkyrie, or Veritech. the good news is my char is definitely the fastest (currently) even though one of the others got sonic flight.
my character also has argueably has the most firepower.

Yeah I can see that. The Metal Siren is my favorite Valkyrie.

Not a bad switch over. I once had an RT game that went Phase World due to the events surrounding the Robotech Factory in the Return of the Masters book.

Last game I ran was just before COVID hit us. It took place in the Robotech universe before the Macross Saga. All players were Zentradi, based on pregens I rolled up that they could pick from.

I do enjoy the additions Macross II brought to mecha. Shame we never got an official sourcebook for later series like Macross Plus, Seven, Frontier, etc. But plenty of fansites have posted their take on stats.

One of the series added a fighter mode to the Monster destroid chasis...probably wouldn't have a good dodge bonus, but very few opponents can take a hit from those dorsal mounted cannons

I haven’t played RT in ages, but I remember those long sessions with Macross era stories and custom mecha builds. My group always wanted to improvise with the tech, and as a GM, I let them get pretty creative when customizing their gear. It’s funny now thinking back, I was way more lenient with what was possible than I would be if I ran a game today.
This world is far too small not to want to see it all, but life is far too short to allow that to happen. - Falcon, Ranger (My primary hero in PFRPG setting)

"Unhand me you slobbering son of an Orcish whore!" - Ariana Moonstone, Palladin (Another primary character of mine.)

"Bastard!" War cry of Strut, Barbarian Mercenary. (That's for you James!)

I never allowed much modification in RT1e but I did run into this problem with Rifts after SB1 came out. I allowed so many mods that we eventually had to reset all the equipment back to base and start over.
