Hey so does anyone remember what book featured people who symbiotically merged with elementals so the elementals could attempt to understand and experience life as a mortal? I vaguely remember seeing something like that but the name escapes me.

No problem. I did a big search for material covering the Elemental Planes a few years back and there really isn't much so it wasn't hard to find.
