Horune Space Pirates

Unread post by kirnos »

Here is the idea: A group of Horune where rifted to an uninhabited planet on the Three Galaxies. Seeing as there was no one to prey on, and the planet didn't have extensive seas, the Horune mystic were gathered in one place to see if they could give some advice or show a way to get out of that place. After days and days of nothing happening, from the collective minds of the mystics came in physical form a new dream ship, one that could soar throught the endless space.
That's how the Horune began their career as space pirates, with new dream ships adapted to space. Soon they where gathering new technology and made contact with the Splugorth, to keep on their living as slavers. Now they are present on each of the galaxies, althought not numerous, but can be seen at Center from time to time to sell slaves at the Splugorth Market.

So the idea would be to modify the dream ships to made them starships. Which looking at the stats seems quite easy to do. I like the Horune, even if I never used the Underseas or any related sea sourcebook on my campaigns of Rifts. But the idea of making them the pirates in the sector i am working for PW campaign is very appealing.

Any idea would be welcomed :)

Giant seine nets made of supertough buckycabling...for entangling ships. :D
Give'em a gravity disruption property, so ships can't simply thrust or CG-FTL out of their hold.

Yes, some kind of gravity field disruptor is necesary. Otherwise the prey will just run away. Also, I think that their dream ships will have Rift engine for FTL travel. Also thinking to add a bay for some fighters. And obviously some kind of shield, probably armor of ithan.
But I can picture the Horune as easily with some captured ship, so mixed techs. Perhaps even the use of some cloaking device, as I stated on another post.

I don't think there's any need to change the occ skills, as they can pick space skills from the related part.

Using derelict ships as 'bait'...definitely. If you can't catch up to prey, make it come to you.

Including turning Space Whales into drone warships?
(*yes, there are Space Whales in the Aliens Unlimited Galaxy Guide, with MDC notation for Rifts)

Oh yeah, I remember the space whales. Humm, maybe with some work it could be done. Althougth i never liked the dolphin and shark bots... don't know, too extreme for me maybe. But sure, seeing that the supply of those animals is short, maybe they will adapt to new ones.

Rifts Underseas, pgs 162-172.
They're also mentioned in D-bees of North America.
