Warpath: Urban Jungle

Unread post by Eric42 »

I just noticed this book listed in the upcoming section of the website. It sounds good. Any ideas when it'll actually coming out?

Didn't the original source material have some problematic issues with portrayals of race or something?

I read the book a long time ago, and I don't particularly remember much along those lines.
There were black characters who were stereotypical gang-banger thugs, but IIRC there were also black characters who were law enforcement.
I might have just been oblivious to it, if it was there.

I remember the controversy as well concerning this. And from what I recall it was a storm of people on both sides who liked and disliked the book. Even the reviews of the book were removed off of Amazon, and new ones added.

The reason I say this, is that I specifically remember a few reviews that were so outrageously negative. Now there are only positive ones listed.

Amazon removes reviews for any number of reasons, most typically if they can find any kind of link between the author and the reviewer.
Facebook friends, for example, can have their reviews yanked for no other reason than that association.
As an independent author, I've had a lot of reviews yanked without explanation.
Sometimes they'll do it if the review "looks like it was paid for," or otherwise looks unusually biased.
Although from what I've heard, they're MUCH more likely to yank good reviews than bad.
