question for palladium?
Our podcast group is thinking of doing a podcast that's less realplay but more of an Audio drama set in Rifts and we were wondering what would and would not be ok to use. Or if we should just scrap the idea of the suggestion board due to IP issues?

Greetings and Salutations. I am not a member of Palladium staff, but if I understand correctly this is what I can tell you...
Sounds like you're talking about an audio version of fan fiction.
Fan fiction shouldn't be a problem. There are fan fics on these forums, on fan sites (mine included), and other sites. The fact it's in audio (podcast) shouldn't be a factor.
There are various podcasts discussing Palladium or even a live game. These have also been allowed, just to show an audio format.
Keep in mind the Palladium Internet policy in general. So be mindful of language and probably avoid R rated content (which could include graphically describing something, especially of a potentially disturbing nature).
You can't sell or try to make money off of it.
You'll probably need to include some type of disclaimer though giving Palladium credit for their IP. This helps protect you, Palladium, and maybe a bonus of some extra advertising for them. I'd recommend checking out some of the existing podcasts for examples.
Palladium can also be fans of show, don't tell. Maybe make a podcast or two and let Palladium see (or listen to) it in action. A podcast might be something Kevin can listen to while doing something else or going on one of his walks. It also gives him a good feel for what you're suggesting instead of letting him fret about what you MIGHT do. At worst he says no and you may have wasted some time. But make it good enough and he may even recommend it in a Weekly Update. You don't know. So I say work up a sample and try to sell Kevin on it. Make it so good he can't say no.
That's my advice. Hope it helps. Farewell and safe journeys.

Been dealing with tons of stuff- and had Kevin on for ages today, and still did not get to it. Will during our meeting on 10/18.

There's NO legal reason you can't do it.

Way back in 88 my DM Terry would roll all dice and keep the character sheets, as well as making all rolls.
All the players did was roleplay their character, had tons of fun games playing without dice.

Ya I was just looking to make sure I wasn't stepping on toes and what I could and couldn't use in regards to IP so we don't get a cease and desist

Re: question for palladium?
Are you selling the audio drama? Selling tickets to the performance? Making any money on PB's IP?
Yes? Call PB's office and talk to them about permissions. Don't wait on emails. Call, leave message, call back.
No? Get cracking on making it an awesome audio drama.
PB needs fans to be more creative and engaged, not less. If your project is a hit, perhaps you and PB could talk about expanding the scope of your future projects.
