..Electrokinesis is still going to be useful in a Fantasy setting. Just get creative.

..As far as the wording, yeah, it was mostly a cut and paste, but what's the big deal. A large portion of the fans of Palladium play the Megaverse games, using characters from one setting in the others.

..Rifts is the Cash Cow, so bringing everything else in line was a must. 2nd Ed PF and HU for that matter were done to facilitate this, as well as just plain update them.

I could find ways to make Electrokinesis useful in PFRPG.

Onlyl the third of the four abilities is what you are describing, and it itself includes a note that it is of minimal use on the Palladium world, being best saved for dimensional hopping. The rest of it could still be useful - especially if you're facing an opponent with Call Lightning :-)

Along those same lines, what are you suppose to do with Telemechanics?
Figure out the inner workings of a wagon wheel?

Catapults, drawbridges, how traps are set up, secret passages, etc.

Telemechanics is actually pretty useful.

I agree. Lots of fantasy setting mechanisms make this a useful power.
Think of the mechanical owl from Clash of the Titans.
Many dungeon traps.
Watch Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger for some possible uses of this power (the Minotaur comes right to mind, although there were some things in Melanthious' workshop as well).

Well, the big issue we have is that the Palladium world wasn't always a gateway world. Only after the 2nd edition did that tech creep appear.

Wait a second, I don't have my book with me now, but doesn't
telemechanics require electronics and computers? To become one
with modern technology?

Wait a second, doesn't telemechanics require the machine to have
electronic components or at least be made of metal? I don't see how
touching something made of wood or stone works with this ability?

No, there is no requirement for Telemechanics.

The description of the power implicitly states "siege mechanisms", and those would not be advanced technology nor made out of anything more than wood, rope, stone and metal.
Thepower gives one the ability to completely understand machines: a block and tackle is a machine. So is a mill, and any number of devices common to a medieval style fantasy setting.

That came to my mind as well, but I was never sure if the group pic of the Defilers was meant to include characters from other Palladium Games at that time or not.

I have a town called 'Vinterbrau' in the Eastern territory.

Set in the hills, this town is a secluded little township of about 2 and a half thousand, with a lengthy walk to the nearest next settlement.

about 55 years ago, a german carrier, the 'Vinterbrau' was rifted into the side of a mountain. the town is essentially built around the ruins, by the descendants of the original crew.

When a PC showed up with electrokinesis, they were shocked and horrified. and eventually employed him (but keep the sensitive stuff away from him)

The examples they give for this power in all the books is bike, gun, car,
computer, and so on. These are all metal and/or require a power source,
not things composed of wood, stone, or paper or need something
like wind or water in order to function. This tells me this is
a modern technology power. I suppose you could "infer"
that telemechanics has the ability to work on such things, but in my
opinion its doesn't belong in this game. I'd rather have 3 or 4
other psionic powers found in Rifts, BtS, HU, and Nightbane
and toss out Electrokinesis and Telemechanics.

So, no. It's any machine. The one being made by wood and rope and operating without power is the very first one mentioned.

Which I pointed out earlier as well.

Telemechanics might be useful in figuring out TW, but not regular enchanted items, weapons and armour.

Yeah, for that you want repeated uses of Object Read.

That picture of The Defilers is, well, The Defilers. Thing is, they weren't in the "Palladium world." They were in Kev's megaverse, before the Palladium 1E rules existed.

This reminds me of an add they used once for this game. They used the picture from Rifts: England on page 124. They had a couple more guys in front of the one with the laser rifle, but the add wasn't edited to remove the laser rifle.

I though Blackpowder was one of those optional extras for a slightly more modern fantasy.

PF was once a world like Rifts, way back in the dim distant....

but I agree that PF does have Dimentioal travelers adding some flavour to the mix.

I know The Wuj incorporated Blackpowder in his monolithic Dragonwright campaign.
