Re: Megaversal Recon
This would basically mean that a cop would have Profession: Law Enforcement, a soldier would have Profession: Military. If they needed to do something conceivably connected to their profession (grenades, knot tying, call for fire for Profession: Military; health code violations, out of juridiction ...

Re: Megaversal Recon
I have no idea what the Air Force and Navy teach so I was trying to be as generic as possible. I don't think the Air Force and Navy do road marches...or teach wilderness survival. Not really sure that they teach HtH Basic either... -STS I would think all branches of the military teach basic hand-to...

Re: How to distribute hits
I pick an enemy, sometimes at random, and start whittling away at their HP. If the damage kills them, the "spillover" damage moves on to the next enemy, and so on.

Hey, playing with civilians/non-vets is great... you can make s**t up and no one will call you on it!

I've been using green plastic Army men. You can use them for both sides, just paint the uniforms different colors. Not exactly accurate to the time and place, but definitely a cheap investment.

Re: "DM screen" for Recon
I mean, I agree with you, Peacebringer... even though I use things like names and animals in my game, there probably is something more relevant to general gameplay that could go on the chart. Do you have any suggestions?

Re: "DM screen" for Recon
Things like, animals, names and terrain type really do not need to be on a quick reference screen and should be considered MD's research. Is there anything else that could go in those spaces? I've had to use animals, names, and terrain on the fly before; it just depends on the type of game you run ...

Re: "DM screen" for Recon
Here's the two-page DM screen I made. It's mostly charts and tables I copied from the Deluxe Revised Recon edition. There might be a couple spots that don't match perfectly with what's in the book, and that means it's one of my houserules (especially the hand to hand combat section). Also, I added a...

Re: MD: Required Reading
I recommend a book called "The 13th Valley" by John DelVecchio, a Vietnam veteran. It's about some Infantrymen going on patrols in Vietnam. I think it's based on a lot of true events, but it's also highly fictionalized.

I'm finishing up my basic DM screen for Recon. I'll try to post it up here in the next couple days.

Could I be a Megaversal Ambassador for one specific game? The only Palladium game I play is Recon, which is nothing like the rest of the Palladium system.

"DM screen" for Recon
Has anyone ever made or tried to make a DM screen for Recon? If so, what charts/tables/information did you have on it? I'm thinking of putting one together soon since I find I'm always flipping through the book to look up something or other.

Re: Shaping World Destiny
I haven't yet; I don't think those rules really apply very well to small-unit Vietnam gaming. If I ever get my Mercenary campaign started, though, I'm going to try and implement them then. Shaping World Destiny seems more relevant when you have a group of mercenaries country-hopping from adventure t...

Re: So sad...
I like to use the "NPC Fast Kill" from the Morrow Project for RECON. It gives the players a better chance of survival. I've been making enemies "easier" to kill in my game, too. I prefer giving the players a bigger edge than is present in the rules as written, because it allows ...

Vietnam War signs from in-country
Does anybody have any good pictures or references to handmade signs made by soldiers in the Vietnam War? I'm looking for things like this from Hamburger Hill, those mileage signs like "San Francisco, 6,000 miles this way," signs for bars, rec tents, company HQ's, or anything else that migh...

Re: Iraq Campaign
Yeah, I hadn't thought about body armor. A reduction in damage would be a good idea, depending on the type of armor being worn. It would probably be important to keep track of hit locations in that case. The ROE would probably be a lot stricter, too, which could lead to a lot more opportunities for ...

Iraq Campaign
I'm running a Recon campaign in Vietnam right now. After that I plan on doing an A-Team/mercenary-type campaign. But after that I want to do an Iraq War campaign. Has anyone here run Recon with the Iraq War as the setting? Were there any major changes you had to come up with as far as what is presen...
