Hey, i made the mistake once of converting an AD&D for PFRPG and forgot that armor in PF has SDC when converting. A goblin with a AC 7 (leather armor) in PFRPG is a bit tougher and goblin elite guards in maille are even tougher. Oops.

Part of it could also be changing aesthetics in the "real world" as well. Back in the 1990s, comics were all leather, guns, and cybernetics even if one was a mutant (Cable & Bishop, anyone?).

We were playing Rifts when I was in the Army in 1988-89 before it was ever published! Sort of, that is. One of my friends combined Robotech and Mechanoids for a really different (yet fun!) experience.

(So, yes, it wasn't really Rifts!)

I have to say, I made the mistake of using old 1st level D&D modules and, well, let's just say that when using Palladium armor rules, 1-1 HD goblins are little more robust than I was used to.
