Re: Looking for advice

Is this ok to do or should I do the pre-gen thing? At a convention, when time is a premium, always use pre-gen's. What is a proper time frame for a basic introductory game (ie how long should the game last: 1, 2 or more hours)? Most conventions book time in increments of 4 or 6 hour blocks. I prefe...

Re: The difference between D20 and PFRPG

Oof... I may have to edit this several times, as I go through... 1) D20 has a unified die mechanic; with the exception of damage, d20 makes use of a d20 to resolve all conflicts/encounters in the game. PFRPG uses a d20 to resolve combat, and d100 to resolve skill checks (both use various other die t...

Well, first off, I would not recommend that a GM encourage racial stereotypes nor enable players who do so. Simply because Asian women are typically thought of 'exotic'; the "dragon lady" motif is stereotypically used to describe Asian women. For example: m Ultimately this is racially dem...

Re: Rifts®: Pregenerated Characters

Pre-generated NPC's are a godsend to new GM's, which is the market they're aimed at, much the same as Demo games (and gaming modules, to a degree; modules can also serve a busy GM, by giving them pre-generated dungeons and the like). And it's an easy fix, to alter a pre-gen's background to work in y...

Beginner's Boxes are a great marketing tool. D&D got A LOT of it's initial popularity based off the Red Box and White Box boxed set's in the 70's. The game was fairly easy (64 page manuals, IIRC), went from levels 1-10, had dice, and an instant adventure. Perhaps most importantly, you were able ...

I'd say if you're using Mega-Heroes/Villains in a (relatively) short Con Game, you're going to have to give them the ability to eat thru damage quickly. Else it'll turn into a game of "You take another 12pts of damage off his 1023 points of SDC..." Even the "flying brick" in my D...
