I'm not a bettin' man, but if I was, I'd say yes.
I think in accordance to the agreement with Harmony Gold they have to change thisng continuity wise, and may not be able to use their home-brewed stuff like the super logan, super alpha, mecha-su-dai, etc.
I dunno if its going to be 100% only what you see on screen or not.
I'm just damn glad the sentinels are no longer part of the official continuity. It blew chunks.

May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.

Except, of course, that it remains to be seen how much of the Sentinels they actually got rid of.

Since I'm unsure who's working on the new books (in one of the Murmurs, he mentions handing out the assignments), I really can't say...

Though if Rabid's one of the author's, I can almost guarantee massive re-writes! :P :D

(to be fair, Rabid has convinced even me that re-writes are necessary to the SC portion of Robotech.)

But given PB previous track record, I'd still wager we're going to see "more new stuff", rather than "revisions to previous material", IMO.

lol. No.

...

Well, actually...
I don't know.

...

Even if he was, he'd be under a NDA not to disclose anything.

(I was honestly making a friendly joke at his expense, but now that I think about it, when the news broke about PB picking the RT license back up, he & I both expressed interest in doing some of the writing...)

Rabid is not (to my knowledge) authoring any of the new books.

The implications of the Murmurs are that Kevin himself will be re-writing.
My communications with Kevin tell me that he will be doing some clean up and rejigging of the existing work as well as adding Shadow Chronicles.

He does read the boards and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the leads he receives here will help him.

:D

Thanks for the vote of confidence. No, I'm not under contract to do any work for Palladium (mind you, that is NOT the same thing as saying I won't be submitting unsolicited work to Palladium as a Freelancer).

hopefully he brings the stats for all the RT mecha up to the current Rifts level. they are supposed to be superior.

Actually, there is no reason for Robotech mecha to be equal to Rifts mecha IN Robotech. All that is needed is conversion notes for Rifts stating that Robotech mecha increase power by X amount when crossing into Rifts to account for the extreme differential in power levels. I think most people would agree that the mecha we see in the Tv series should mostly be equal to the best that is offered in Rifts in terms of firepower/armour. In terms of technical sophistication, there is NOTHING on Rifts Earth that is as capable or as advanced as what we see in Robotech.

Darkmax wrote:well, as before, my point of contention is here. RT was one of the very first MDC settings, so the stats are very low and very unbalanced in many mechas. They should be brought up to the current level of Rifts. They are supposed to be more technologically advanced than Rifts, so their MDC should be brought up while the MD from weapons should be reduced.

I'm just going to point out the MDC levels for some stuff in Rifts is way out of wack. You have Power Armors (i.e. Super SAMAS) with more MDC then an APC which is 10 times the size of the Super SAMAS.

MDC levels should be determined by size, maneuverability, weight etc etc etc, NOT coolness factor.

In fact palladium NEEDS to have some sort of in house system for taking all the above mention attributes of a mecha/robot and from there find reasonable MDC levels for everything, from EBA to PA's to Robot/Mecha, and vehicles. But they don’t hence the power creep.

For example: Something that is big and heavy (i.e. the MBR-07 Spartan Destroid) should have a high MDC rating while something that is meant to be light and quick (VF-1 Valkyrie) should have a low MDC rating. But instead BOTH mecha have the same MDC of 250? What’s up with that? It makes no sense! Especially when a Destroid is intended to be a walking tank, and a Veritech an aircraft intended to of fly through the air at Mach 2. I was able to see these faults as a twelve year old child when I first started playing Robotech and I'm now more then twice that age.

Last but not least something like a Cyclone should have around 50 MDC, not 200! Oh and take away the munchkin force field on the saber Cyclone.

As for placing Robotech mecha in Rifts, Conversation Book one (1st ed) has everything you need to give Robotech mecha the same MDC levels as seen in Rifts.
