Favorite Rifts book and why!

You only get to list one; no listing seconds, thirds, etc. And no need to list the original core book or RUE.

Rifts Japan
Is an anime fan, so "it's Japan"
It also has almost MAF's in it.

Wormwood.

It's an incomplete setting, but it's far more compelling a setting than any part of Rifts Earth.

Dark Conversions, for two reasons. 1. They got Nightbane in it, Nightbane is my favourite setting. 2. It's just a darker book with darker monsters, and that appeals to my darker side.

RIFTS Free Quebec, right now...because I had other favorites in the past...
I like the way of life and think of the people from (Rifts) Quebec (in a way, they are a mix of the CS and the NGR). They have developed my favorite Power Armor, the VIOLATOR SAMAS to help another Power Armor favorite, the Glitterboy! I prefer their PA fighting tactics over the Robot ones. Finally, I love Captain Elaine Jeunet and VIPER DELTA.

Canada, the Tundra Rangers are awesome and have become a power on par with FQ in my game and growing. I have written all most a whole sores book on them.
So I guess the reason I love the Canada book is the inspiration it gave me to create

Well it's hard to choose, but I have to say Black Market.

I literally (well, within the last couple of days) just got it, and I have to say I am loving it. I have been wanting to see more on the infamous black market, and it is really well written and thought out. Heck, I even like (within a margin of error) all the new equipment and OCCs, which I haven't had with a book since I first took a look at CWC. I love the detail and I really want to play an adventure in it sometime in the future :D
Shoot or Die, it's the name of the game.

Lemuria, without a doubt. This book is a clear A++ and I look forward to Mr Diaczyk's next books. Josh's Shemarrian Nation also deserves an A++. But I will go with Lemura at the moment, tomorrow it may change. But those two are the best in my opinion.

Are you, by any chance, Canadian? I have always felt that things can get pretty provincial in RIFTS when it comes to the world books. Everyone wants their patch to be the best. I live in the North East, and have been fiddling around with an idea for cyborg whalers and such.

Because that is the book that discribes Kingsdale. Kingsdale is my default setting. Although the Juicer's Uprising itself didn't do much for me.

psyscape was a great book but while its packed full of cool creatures it did lack any real insight to the actual city. Next favorite has to be Dark Conversions, bring in the Night Lords but with very few Nightbanes was a blast!

Hard to say but I definitely re-read the books with the most diversity. Although it changes a lot I am gonna say Underseas as it had some really surprises in there as well as good takes on those expected inserts. South America comes close for re-reading for the same reasons - so many different kingdoms, such diversity, but Ive yet to play the power creep rumoured continent...

From the Rifts line I think Wormwood might be my favorite. But, I would prefer to separate it from Rifts entirely. So, for actual use with Rifts I would have to go with Atlantis. There is just a ton of very cool stuff in it for players and GMs.

It allowed me to really use ARCHIE and Hagan who are two of my favorite NPCs and the Edict of Planetary Distress has given me a story line that I have used for better then a decade. It also leads into other books really nice way including the Minion wars books.

I agree that the story line for Mechanoid Invasion is a really good one. There is not much afterward to really develop a direct link to other story lines though.

You're right, this was a great hook for GMs. I used the Mechinoids Invasion to tie the original Archie adventure, with it, and Juicer Uprising. That campaign lasted about two years in all. I ran my group through a slightly modified Archie adventure, which ended in the complex with the Mechinoids arrival. From there is was a run and gun escape for a while. They eventually befriended Hagan, and got support from a CS remote field commander. Which lead them to helping destroy the main invasion force. After that they were dogged by a small Mechinoid hit squad for a while, then they were chasing down that last few Mechiniods that were trying to establish a foot hold. That was a lot of fun.

So, I guess I need to change my vote to Mechinoid Invasion.

My players had already encountered ARCHIE & Hagan and they violently hated each other so it was fun to force them to work together.

I used the edict to lead into Four Horseman, Juicer Uprising and a host of other things. For me this book lasted 3 or 4 years. You can even use the edict to lead into the Minion Wars.

Re: Favorite Rifts book and why!

My favorite Rifts book? "The one yet to be" of course... because it holds such dreams of what could be.
"If your plan relies upon chance to succeed, then you've already failed."
"Sometimes to achieve the greatest good, one must commit great evil."
