Villians Unlimited was a huge missed opportunity to update the characters fully to 2E. Hell one of the posters here even did the conversions for them if I am not mistaken before VU 2E went to print. For some odd reason they simply cut and paste the same 1E characters into VU 2E thinking we would not...
I was going to play a renegade character of the RCC an unprincipled member of the race and usually RCCs have done secondary skills. Or are they limited in skills due to starting RCC abilities or a mistake and they were left out?
Again why make a world war one tank when they can easily make on M1 Abrams. Why make an M1 Abrams when you can order tons of them from Golden Age Weaponsmiths, get them cheap because they're outdated, pre-MDC technology, and then TW modify them to be on par with modern high-tech tanks for a fractio...
*sighs* Lazlo is a Magic kingdom. Not a tech one. You seem to have picked up lazlo when you were reaching for NG or the Titan robotics book. Both. It's both. That's where techno-wizardry comes from, combining both. Arguably the fact they're known for techno-wizardry should strongly imply they have ...
So much imo needs to be rewritten. Lazlo being surronded by enemies and thinking they don't need an army. If they think making inferior items will make their enemies think twice about invading guess again. The last thing I want to see is a repeat of mages being arrogant to a stupid degree just like...

Then riddle me this .....how is it MULTIPLE CITIES MASS PRODUCE items when by these rule MASS PRODUCTION is not possible? I am damn sure they don't have 200 TWs JUST making magic tw widget 312 every damn day. Lazlo Dweomer Arzno Magefire Stormspire Tolkeen when it existed. ALL MASS PRODUCE TW items...
The book has a good chance of being one of the best must have sourcebooks for the Rifts game line. That being said it needs a major rewrite as imo it's not ready to go to the printers yet.
I was heavily doubting ordering the Raw preview but I'm not sot sure any more after reading this... Maybe the final version will solve a lot of these issues but somehow I doubt it since that would require quite a huge overhaul and I have no clue if Palladium has ever done that between a RAW version...
Gadgets Unlimited to include gizmos not covered by Super-Invention Hardware Unlimited Robotics Unlimited to expand on the Robotics category and include how to account for different size frames, whether huge or tiny. Also, Bionics needs to be included as a form of Robotics and they should have some ...
slight off topic the term gatekeeping is thrown around way too much by some in the hobby. I could understand if gamer x because of their race, gender or preferred version of an rpg is continually turned away from gaming tables because of it. One bad incident and it's 1000% proof postive that gatekee...
Focus fire from a 10 man cs squad will put a hurt on you REAL fast. A sound tactic except that it only works so often before ut starts coming off as NPC metagaming. It's the same way the opponents in D&D game target the casters always bypassing dangerous foes. Such tactics can be used though in...
It's two factors imo. Some GMs not being more strict in what they allow at the table and PB habit of adding something in simply because "would it be cool...". Which leads to many elements just too powerful allow in most campaigns. I am not saying balance everything yet in some cases PB nev...
I'd much rather have several "good guy" factions who passionately disagree on policy. That's something we haven't really seen yet. As would I except PB or at least the writers seems overly fond of the ultra powerful organization with complete minion loyalty and unlimited resources yet no ...
I will keep an open mind yet no Dark Factions in Lazlo please for the love of god. The rotten apple Syndrome has been done to death with some sourcebooks. When done it's always the "super secret evil organization, that no notices, with unlimited resources, 1000% loyalty from their followers, wi...
I just wanted to give Palladium a heads up that they may have issues with Rifts China and Mystic China. This person here that does a Podcast may want seek removal of both books from Drivethrurpg like he is trying to do for Oriental Adventures : m I am trying to find the list of the official poll to ...
I was thinking of maybe ordering the core for a fellow gaming buddy yet I cannot see any link to the print version of the UR core book in the forum store section. Is it going through a reprinting? Yes I know he can get it in PDF he seems to prefer print.
Doe me personally what bothered me about SOT is that both sides were written as making some truly amateur mistakes on both sides. The CS launching nukes on an enemy expecting such an attack. Given how vocal they have been on the CS hate of anything non-human of course Tolkien was going to be ready f...
After what happened to Tolkeen I can see Plato alignment changing to Scrupulous or at least something Practical Principled. He still remains of a good alignment though the changes brought about by the what has happened post Tolkien would require a more practical approach. Especially with Erin Tarn b...
I am the resident weirdo where if anything I actually find Carella material balanced and makes more sense than the standard Rifts material. Their is no reason at all that a rifle should outclass a gun on a robot or any vehicle not unless the rpg provides an in game reason. I see nothing beyond Kevin...
I just cannot see the CS wasting time and effort to exterminate dolphins imo. Possibly if they defeat the more powerful major and minor supernatural menaces that are on Rifts Earth currently. Now when they have a vampire infested country on their doorstep seems well like a waste. Even then given tha...
At this point with Triax, Northern Gun and other such manufacturers mass producing newer tech. Unless a pre-Rifts item requires something special to function assume it is mass produced. It is one of the reasons they upgraded what the Vagabond received in terms starting equipment. If nations on Rifts...
Sorry, wasn't trying to come across as hostile, I was genuinely curious. It seemed like you were pretty generally negative about the game and didn't like it. Thank you for the explanation. I took too much offence at your response and my response was unnecessarily hostile as well. (Gives virtual han...
Too much work on my end for little gain would be required to do for it to be something I would run again. So I guess I'm curious if you dislike it so much you refuse to run/play it, why are you on the forums at all? If I don't like something, I sure don't waste my time reading it and talking about ...
A number of those isles are volcanic. what means that with geological upheaval some of those could disappear indeed, or in the opposite vein, grow higher and larger. Also, the maps we do get of current Rifts Earth do seem to imply that sea level possibly receded in the centuries after the initial d...
My group plays Rifts because we love the setting. The rules have their issues but I have literally never played an RPG with flawless rules, including D&D 3.5 which is the other one we played a lot of over the years. Even the 3.5 core rules had problems despite what I assume is a far more thorou...
It has been awhile since I read the Madhaven book yet unless I'm mistaken part of the reason they survived was because of the goddess Isis divine intervention. Yes one can just ignore what is written in the area and include whatever they want. Yet imo short of divine intervention that area is and li...
I had forgotten it was talked about in japan book but that is about as expected. Most of those areas of indonesia/philippines and the various other island nations in that region would gotten basically stomped flat. Basically just the upper part of various mountains/volcanos that were high enough to...
It is not my desire nor my damn job to fix the flaws of an rpg. I did not create the rpg and more importantly I'm not getting payed to do so. Rifts is known for an interesting background. The rules as well and not in a positive way and the wonky damage values. It is hard enough to get many fellow ga...
It is an easy fix. Any weapons on vehicles, robots or larger than a suit of power atmor do double damage. If I ran Rifts now it is how I would do it. I'm all for character survivability. The rpg and its world are advertised as being both a harsh and deadly world to adventure in. So to complain when ...
Until PB either releases a new edition or at the very least slims down and consolidates their skill list or stops adding new skills to their new books. This is something which should be available online on their forums imo. As a print product it's something that could end up being out of date fairly...
I would include a -5 to save vs Horror Factor when it comes to hearing dissenting opinion and/or when reality goes against what they perceive it to be then what it truly is. As well penalty to skills with anyone who has a different opinion then they have. Everyone and anyone who disagrees with them ...
Forgot this. If KS and PB were suing over the concept of rifts i.e. portals in space and time, which since they never sued Dragon Age for theirs and some of them looked like they were right out of the RMB, then I would be right there with you. It was having a game with a similar premise and giving ...
With the movie rights, the agreement for Savage Rifts and the settlement for when Trion tried stealing his IP he may not be able to allow this. I hope he allows it if he can but ultimately a fanzine is going to be more hit or miss than the Rifter ever was so not sure how big an audience it will get...
When I browse the forum. This forum has a feature where every time one goes into different parts of the forum three of PB products are advertised in the top left hand corner. I have been noticing that Robotech products are still appearing in that area and should be removed imo.
Take everything that is said about technology in Rifts with a galaxy sized grain of salt. As this is the same rpg that claims that tanks are considered obsolete on Rifts Earth (Rifts Mercenaries page 96). Where if the Golden Age on Rifts Earth created so many technological marvels one assumes they w...
I voted other. Meaning if the group had say a Operator or similar OCC with some skill rolls a limited amount could be made compatible. Certainly not the 100 round max that the GB has.
If this were to happen it should be done as a online SRD. Similar to what Paizo has done with the Pathfinder rules. That way it does not become obsolete over time and can be periodically updated as needed. In print format it runs the risk of being obsolete.
As much as I don't like it I understand why Rifts gets the lion share of development and production. That being said though if their other rpg lines begin to suffer because of it it's no fault but their own. I don't want to see or hear them blame something else. If a rpg lines gets no support it beg...
Is it just me or is the show Blood Drive a great inspiration for a campaign. I can see a whole order of Techno-wizard creating such devices for the right people and price. I could also see it as a potential sourcebook for Rifts or a series of Rifters. I recommend taking a look at the trailers for th...
Actually i have something to ask here, does rifts book EVER say anything about the pc's getting hints of what the sunaji are? You seem to be assuming its the players who have to unmask these villians!...except why should they ever have a clue? And things do go wrong for rifts villians, at least one...
