I agree with Josh. The KDP system is ripe for this kind of thing. Plus the LitRPG genre is crazy right now.

Podcast Launch with a big debate on the better fantasy game

The moment has finally come and 30+ years of tabletop gaming has lead to this. Basement Quest! Some of our best games happened in our friend’s basement and lasted for days or weeks at a time in some cases. Epic campaigns that brought us into war, peace, adventure and horror. Those were easily the be...

Re: podcast!

Having characters at each other throats is a good plus, especially if one is bit; it also helps to have direction in these types of games, besides survival (which Mike beings). I just don't think DR is made for a generic survival romp, though I'd also assert that no system is. At this point you jus...

Re: Is Palladium Still Publishing Novels?

Kindle Worlds is shuttered. Yes and to this day I don't know how PB wasn't talked into diving all in on AW. I mean an unknown service with spotty quality that died a slow and unremarkable death. How was PB not in this? Hello, Nokia calling we have another can't fail opportunity for you. Kindle Worl...

Re: Is Palladium Still Publishing Novels?

Perhaps Palladium doesn't need to make the first move? Maybe a small print publisher could work a licensing deal? That is an excellent idea. One, sadly, I think will never happen since in a licensing deal I imagine Kevin will want control which leaves where we are now, everything bottle-necked wait...

Re: Is Palladium Still Publishing Novels?

I’m a budding author who loves the heck out of Rifts, and I was curious if Palladium was still publishing novels. If they are, I’ll start working on one immediately. Thanks for the help! Palladium is unlikely to do any more fiction work. My advice, if you have the itch to write RIFTS stories is to ...

Re: Is Palladium Still Publishing Novels?

They need to hire someone good with Kindle Direct Publishing. I kind of disagree here. PB is an RPG company, not a publisher of popular fiction. They do not have the staff necessary to oversee the quality or legality (imagine they accidentally allow an author to publish a story that has a clear cop...

Re: Palladium Books is looking to expand into other media

A little late to the game here, but here's my opinion. They need to expand into six areas, which the poll in the OP has shown alot of people agree with. I'll start with the Easiest and then go down to the hardest. 1: PDFs and E-books. It has been said since back in 2012, but this needs to be done. ...

Palladium Fantasy is my guilty pleasure. I'm into Beyond the Supernatural and Dead Reign right now, but I'm thinking of reviving my Fantasy campaign for Roll20 or something of that nature. Maybe run some games at the local comic store.

Zombies are functioning on pure instinct so they must be going through the motions of breathing even if they don't need to. You would need air to moan, right?

Some advice on starting up a new campaign.

I am about to launch my new campaign for Dead Reign and I'm in LOVE with he random encounter tables but I want to know how much do you use them versus plotting out every aspect of the adventure. I'm starting with a well plotted start but plan on using the random tables and pushing the survival aspec...

Re: What could Palladium do FOR FREE to attract new players?

There have been many threads over the years about Palladium revamping this or that to draw in new players. However, revamps cost money and they are always a gamble. Many RPGs have created new editions without drawing in new players. Many RPGs have revamped their format and still did not draw in new...

Kobo is another e-book publisher, they had a partnership with Borders before they went bankrupt. Like Josh said, Kobo is the top seller of E-Books in Canada. Unlike Amazon they are strictly a bookseller. Most consider them the best format for international book sales.

Re: Kindle Worlds for Palladium-based stories?

I actually can't see this either. What you have in most cases is a moderately successful product for an IP that bares some resemblance to a Fan Fic and then the person sues in hope of a pay day. And while Warner, and DC, and Marvel can crush these like a bug, I do not think PB could. Amazon could, ...

Re: Kindle Worlds for Palladium-based stories?

first - NOBODY from Palladium has said anything about this so how about no conclusion jumping? second - how are Amazons terms any worse than Palladium's? Freelancers can't retain rights to their work with Palladium either. At least with Amazon you keep earning every time your work sells. Right. Tha...

Re: Kindle Worlds for Palladium-based stories?

Palladium should give it a shot with one of their lesser properties. I would avoid Rifts at first only because of how large it is. Test the waters with it and listen to the fan response. Then if it works open it up more. This could be a way to test the waters on a more large scale library of novels....

Re: Kindle Worlds

If past behavior is indicative of future decisions, I do not think Palladium would go for this. I'm not saying it's a bad idea. I'm just saying I don't think that it's their style. I would like to disagree but they won't go for it. I might be a pessimist yet chances are good they won't even look in...

Re: What do you want to see from Palladium Books ?

I think that Palladium should license their properties to Amazon Kindle Worlds so that those that wish to write fiction based on those properties could do so and both Palladium and the authors could get paid to do so with no overhead on the part of Palladium.
