Didn't someone make up a neanderthal (human mutant) some time ago?

It was done back in the Old Transdimensional TMNT.

I'm making a mutant neanderthal for Rifts, and in Transdimensional TMNT, it says to just use a normal Homo Sapiens for the neanderthal stats

Okay....for some reason I was thinking that someone made up a Neanderthal Throwback when the new ATB book came out.

I remember a discussion somewhere about this on the boards, but I can't swear it was in AtB.

The exact branching involved with human evolution is still fairly sketchy, so if you want to play them an ancestors go for it. Since they occupied Europe at the same time as modern humans it does make sense for them to be a competing species then an ancestor. Think leopard and lion in Africa.

there has been some suggestion that the neaderthals interbred with the more "modern" type from the time, so you could do a throw back. heck, i've met people IRL i metally dubbed throwbacks to neaderthals. (mostly since working for a football team.)

hehe, I had a room mate in college then wasn't to far off either....

Neanderthal may just be a easier way to describe a de-evolved human. It could just be a standard set of changes in a human mutant population.

Make a classic "Caveman" human throwback.
