Land Rovers in Rifts

I have a player that is rolling up a Psi-Tech for our ongoing campaign. In the description of the player's starting Equipment (in the Psyscape book), for vehicles it has the following:
"Vehicle: A souped-up hover cycle or Land Rover with
10% more M.D.C. and which can go 10% faster." The player said it would make more sense to have a vehicle larger than a hovercycle, to have more room to carry spare parts and such.
I have searched many of the books for land rovers, and haven't found anything specific. The various books are filled with copious amounts of vehicles. What qualifies as a Land Rover in the current vehicle listings in the Rifts books?
Is this something the GM needs to make up? Is it specifically a land/ground vehicle and not a hover craft or does some kind of Hovercraft fut the bill?

Limited to North America, your choices would be the Big Boss ATV, NG CTV-05 Crisis Response Vehicle, the NG Ermine Wilderness Recon Vehicle(it's more dune buggy) the NG Road King SUV, and the Road Thunder Combat Car.. The Mountaineer and the NG Wolftrack are more trucks. There's also the NG AT26, which is a Humvee/Land Rover.
Black Market book has the long-legged wheeled RomperStomper, the Rumble Wagon, and the Runabout ATV(it too is more dune buggy).

Land Rover in this case is a catch all term for off-road vehicle. So, you like aren't going to see it in those terms in the books per say, but by its capabilities. Which means ATVs and Dune Buggies qualify, the SUV and Combat Cars might not (it would depend on their capabilities).

GAW-998 Improved Hummer, Merc Ops pg 129-130 - substantially less expensive (a 80%+ discount!!!) than the liquid fuel NG AT26 (WB34 pg 233-234), tho the features can be a tad budget too... ;)

The descriptions of the aforementioned 'SUVs all describe them as 'off-road'. I'm assuming that the writers simply mistook the modern and more common usage and appearance of SUV to mean 'big-wheeled off-road capable muscle vehicle' instead of what they primarily are; 'big intimidating ego-boosters that will never see an unimproved road in their operational lifespan'.

I would say give him a Cargonaught. they are perfect for PC vehicles, carry a lot or the whole group depending.

I don't have all the books so I could not evaluate some stuff (why I didn't commit to SUV), though I agree the about the common usage of SUV (Suburban Utility Vehicle) by the writers for the convenience of the reader as opposed an in-universe term (unless the Suburbs have taken on a completely new meaning in-universe). It might also be showing the generational gap between the editor and possible writer for respective entries.

If looking for Land Rovers Megaversally, the 1E and 2E Robotech RPGs also have "land rovers" and "dune buggies" in a few books each (one doesn't need to get both editions, but 2E has more).

Another source might be to just build one using the Robot RCC in Rifts SB1o/r, and just forgo the AI (unless going for a Speed Buggy-themed vehicle) and make choices centered around an off-road vehicle (or whatever vehicle type one is looking for but can't find) if one doesn't have access to the HU/N&SS super vehicle build system (which would mean SDC land rover, though one can convert the result to MDC).

keep in mind that 'land rover' could just mean a jeep or truck, like the real world Land Rover brand.

the stats for a jeep, SUV, or pickup truck from the various SDC settings should work for those. mercenaries has stats for MDC converted versions (in the GAW section.. but i'd imagine that a lot of places could do similar rebuilds, or might even make new builds to those specs)
