The Spell Hallucination from the Book of Magic page 121.

Question #1:

Can the spell be used in a way that is pleasing to the one it is cast upon?
Hallucination of a departed loved one (including a dog that died), an ex-girlfriend who broke up with you, your teacher/master/mentor, etc.

Sure, nothing limits the spell effects to creating "negatives" per say. Though how much control the caster has over the hallucination might be questionable (if they don't know anything about Mary Jane Watson and cause Peter Parker to hallucinate her, Peter might suspect something is up if the mage has to control interactions instead of Peter's mind)
