so for whatever reason, i keep getting logged out of the forums even if i've got the browser open to them. it's close to hourly from what i've noticed (not that i'm looking too close) and i wanted to know if this is something others have having an issue with or if i need to fiddle with my browser client.

Greetings and Salutations. I'll say I don't have that issue, which isn't very helpful but just wanted to give you at least one response. I'm not much of the techy guy, but I will make a few other notes ...

1: I'm using Chrome as my browser (if that matters).
2: I check the stay logged in box when I log in (the rare times I need to).
3: Are you clicking links from e-mail about new posts in threads? If so, this is possibly a link issue (there's the main site, and a shadow site, and if someone posts on the shadow site you get that link, and logging into that will you out of the main site, and logging into the main site logs you out of the shadow site). This can make you feel like you're being logged out, but it's really two different sites (with the same info). If this is your issue, just pay attention to the links and stay consistent.
3a: So if you see: https://palladiumbooks.com/forums (and some other stuff after), that's the correct site.
3b: Meanwhile if you see: https://palladium-megaverse.com/forums (and some other stuff after), that's the incorrect site.
3c: Before one of the website changes, the correct/incorrect sites were reversed. Go figure.

If none of that helps, then I hope someone else can provide you with better insights than I. Best of luck. Farewell and safe journeys.

not sure how THAT happened, but that seems to have been the issue. can we get a redirect or something for this problem?

Somehow people get logged into the shadow boards on occasion, and if they then post something to an already existing topic, anyone getting a reply message will be directed to those boards instead of the usual ones. None of the admins here seem to know how to prevent that from happening.

The only way to prevent that, is by shutting down the "Shadow Boards" and set a redirector back to the forums. The reason why the shadow boards does this, is due to cookie settings. The Shadow Boards are using the same database, and therefore the same 'Cookie' as the normal forums. Because they are sharing the same cookie, the file only shows the main board not the shadow, so you never get the correct cookie.

with the log out item, I believe it more has to do with inactivity over the time, not that your browser is set to the boards.

I've written up some long posts and by the time I finished, I found myself timed out.
