It'd be really really nice if we could find a way to get others access to the Sound Off forum, apparently a number of people have requested it through the Usergroups system but there hasn't been any action on it.

I'm not seeing any pending people in the group list. Could you ask someone who wants to join to PM me directly?

Sent you a PM, but while you're here, would there be a way to have the board be shown if still 'locked' so people can know about it and see about joining?

I'd like to say yes, but I'm still picking up PHPBB. We're also on an outdated version at the moment, so I'm trying to work with our hosting provider to get the whole thing updated so we can get access to all the latest features. The forum is also not locked. Locking a forum means that only admins could post content, so I think there's something else wonky going on.

Well I know unless you're a member apparently you can't even see it exists which makes it harder for people to even know about let alone seek access to.

Ok, NMI just let me know he approved everyone a week or so ago, so I think that's why I'm not seeing any pending people anymore.

Ahhh that would explain it then. What about getting it so people can see the board even if they can't access it or something to let them know it exists?

How that works, is that it's a 'Locked Group Membership'. So people must apply in order to get access to the group. This is done through their control panel. Group Leaders can approve from their Control Panel/Moderator Panel. While Admin's can approve folks all the way in Admin Control Panel on the back end.

So it's not a 'Locked Forum' just a Hidden and Permission Based Forum

If I remember this forum software right, a forum can be made "view only" based on user permissions, but then they'd be able to see all the threads too so that wouldn't quite work. It's the same permission level of the Links Across the Megaverse or Murmurs forums.
