"LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS"

It's a new series on Netflix, kind of like "Black Mirror," but in the far future, and set mostly in space or on distant worlds.

WARNING: It's absolutely NOT for children! (Language, Nudity, Sexuality, and Graphic Violence)

Anyhow.....

In the episode, "Suits," human farmers on a distant planet(??) have to protect their crops and herds from........yep, they said it.....

"DeeBees."

Hope that this brightens up Kevin's day at least a little when he hears about it!

(And the rest of you, give Ell-Dee-Arr a try some time if you have Netflix! So far, my favorite episode is "Beyond the Aquilla Rift"))

I was stoked to hear about this series, especially as the first episode is "Sonna's Edge", which is almost Splicers territory.
They took some quality stories by quality writers and gave them a good animated treatment.

Honestly I thought the 3 robots episode was the best, but I loved that ending.

Yup that human farmer one felt very much like rifts farming in the NG. Honey there is some slavering monster that just appeared out of a rift mind running out there in your robot vehicle and stomp it quick.

So far, I have not been disappointed. (I'm on the episode "Helping Hand." I can only watch episodes at home, when the boy is not in the house AT ALL, the nudity and language come out of absolutely nowhere.)

In my opinion, one of the best sci-fi series to hit anywhere in quite a long time!

I hate the series... because their too short I want two hour long episodes. Made me sad I got through it in a day

Then it's succeeded; if the short-format so enthralled you you wanted more....

Good series. I like the short format, because when an episode isn't that good, it doesn't last all that long.

Gee such a downer. The only episode I think I disliked was Fish Night. The whiteness was the next "worse" but none of them were truly horrible.

I literally just watched "Suits" and was all excited to come on the boards and boast about it as being Rifts: Farming....but apparently am late to the party.
I love the series. Suits was about Rifts, Sonnie's Edge is Cyberpunk/Shadowrun, as is The Witness. Sucker of Souls is Call of Cthulhu...

Yeah, I can't think of one that was horrible.
But there were a lot that weren't great either.
I kinda liked Fish Night. I just wish that it had gone somewhere else.

Probably my least favorite was Zima Blue, and it wasn't bad either.
But I wouldn't have minded if it'd been shorter.

Also, if you guys want to compare this show to something else, what this show REALLY reminds me of is Heavy Metal.
Not the movie so much, but the actual magazine.

interestingly, that same episode caused a number of Battletech fans to be very happy, because the mecha used were stylistically similar to some of the IndustrialMechs used in the battletech setting, particularly the Agromech series. (used for farming, and a popular platform in the battletech setting for improvised fighting units, usually swapping out the specialized farming equipment like combines for lightweight weaponry like missile packs and machineguns.)

To me fish night was headed toward awesome but the bridge across cool was washed out leaving it in mediocre. It actually made me angry for the lost potential.

I liked the twist in Zima Blue showing that a legend was wrong.

The Whitness was just too obvious it would have been better if she gradually changed to look like the woman that was dead and we don't see that they are the same until the end. So at the end she looks the same as the dead woman and the man who now looks different but she recognizes the other in the window as the original.

I guess I figure I can turn off horrible but I can't do anything to extend awesome.

Exactly. Even the length makes it feel like that to me. The next thing to continue that would be to have a couple of the most liked have a second episode.

I read somewhere that the showrunners came around to the idea for the show after initially thinking about doing a Heavy Metal series. That fell through and/or the idea morphed into the Netflix series at some point.
