Interesting concept in the Phalanx Wolf-Gestalt. Especially the EShe-19SW Wolfskin. The wolfskin's ability to move on it's own while the user is in it can come in handy in the event of the user being knocked unconscious.
Does the wolfskin have the exact powers and stats as the non exoskeleton version? Same MDC, strength, weapon's capabilities? Just wondering what the advantages of the wolfskin over the normal version would be (besides a nice surprise when an exo-armoured warrior suddenly sheds the armour and has 6 Shemarrian Wolves to aid in the hunt/attack).

Unless otherwise noted, YES, the Wolfskin has all the capabilities as the regular Phalanx. As for the advantages? Sometimes the pilot has more APMs and extra abilities(magic, psionics) that the regular Phalanx doesn't. And remember, as noted, extra sensors, features(and by extension, databases) can be added to 'custom' Wolfskin Phalanxes.

And now I'm tempted to try doing Vorpal Bunny Slippers.

Ok, just wanted to make sure the Exoskeleton was the same or not in terms of stats.
Oh... I just had a thought.. Wolfskin capes with the heads as either helmets/head dress, or around the neck to act as a clasp.. only the head functions like a Phalanx Wolf-Gestalt head.. giving the wearer extra set of eyes, and up close the laser eyes and a bite attack.

Edit: CAPES.. not caps..

I'll file it under Possible Christmas Gifts the EShemar Give Their Friends. :D

Shemarrian-brand Vorpal Bunny Slippers
http://i408.photobucket.com/albums/pp164/taalismn/img311.jpg

It was the night before Tinselsagan, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, except for the supernatural predator.
A pinch of purloined fairie dust, and the household ‘security’, the two watchdogs, were out in slumberland. Mere metal locks and closures were no deterrent to an experienced home invader.
Briefly the invader stopped before the door to the adults’ bedroom, sensing the sleepers inside. Briefly it considered murdering the occupants in their sleep, against the chance of their waking and interrupting its hunt. But it decided not to; confident in its abilities and already relishing in absentia the anguish the grownups would experience when it discovered its handiwork in the morning. Instead it continued on, to the door at the end of the hall, the one with the colorful animal drawings on it.
Slipping in the door with oily speed and silence, the creature finally sighted its prey and moved in.
The boogieman crept upto the bedside, sack in hand, his leering eye not leaving the softly snoring form sleeping all tucked in snug and comfly under the blankets.
So cute...so sweet...so young...so succulent....
So...
.red?!
The boogieman didn’t even have enough time to scream as faint red beams swept across its throat from under the bed, and the monster was pulled down as if sucked into the floor itself.
(crunchmunchcrunchslurpchewgulplicksucklipsmack :fl: )
Cindy Lou slept the undisturbed sleep of angels.

These bizarre ‘Warmounts’ are not normally associated with the Shemarrians, and most people who hear of them mistake them for a product of mages or technowizards. In reality, they’re a product of the twisted minds of the Lost Eclipse, possibly with input from eccentric Wayfinders. Not (normally) seen operationally inside the Tribes, the VBSes are typically used as gifts to those outsiders who have benefitted the Tribes in some way, and who are considered to be under the Tribes’ protection.
VBSes resemble large, rather heavy, angora-pattern fluffy bunny slippers, complete with large ears, cottonball tall, and, if one looks under the thick fur, four short but muscular legs. A warm foot-hole in the top allows a person’s foot to be inserted atop the slipper. In reality, the slippers are refinements of the NEMA RX-3036 ‘Pup Scout’, and are fully functional mini-robots...with a few extra twists thrown in.
VBSes count as Warmounts in as much as they can be ‘ridden’; when their rider is secured, feet slipped into a pair of them, the robots can stand up on their own small legs and scurry at high speed, carrying their rider between them, effectively ‘ground surfing’. Incredibly strong for their size, VBSes can carry their wearer at high speed and even perform power leaps(though these tend to be rather terrifying for the rider). To those able to appreciate the ride, the experience is somewhat akin to high speed roller-skating or snowboarding...only with the skates or snowboard calling the shots.
The ‘war’ part of Warmount comes into play with the fact that the VBSes are fully programmed for combat, jumping, pouncing, and biting, typically at weak points in the legs and feet, but going for targets of opportunity such as exposed hands, wrists, throats and faces. They are all the more dangerous for their mini-arsenal; small, but surprisingly powerful lasers in the eyes and armor-slicing vibroteeth can pose a hazard to even megadamage-protected opponents.
VBSes always work in pairs, and they are programmed and interlinked to coordinate their movements. This is especially important when carrying their wearer, so that they don’t hare off in different directions and scoot out from under their wearer, leaving them in the dust, or accidentally tear their owner’s legs apart. If one VBS is lost, the other will attempt to continue with its bodyguard duties as best it can(and will attempt to alert its creators that a replacement is needed). And VBSes ALWAYS manage to be under their masters’ feet in the morning, negating ‘cold floor shock’.
Even when not being worn, VBSes serve their owners, acting as burglar alarms, smoke detectors, watchdogs, and household vacuums. They are among the smallest ‘bots equipped with a nanotech regeneration system, and they will frequently graze on dirt and scrap(and the odd luckless home invader) to feed their self-repair systems. They also serve as communications links and monitors, updating passing Shemarrians on the status of their ‘owners’ and alerting any Shemarrian units in their area if danger threatens.
VBSes are typically given as gifts to those considered ‘Friends of the Tribes’. This quirky gift is also apparently also given out in the worlds of the Shemarrian Star Nation, with one such gift’s subsequent experiences including the loyal VBSes tracking down and rescuing their kidnapped owner, resulting in a Three Galaxies story book ‘The Brave Little Slippers’ making rounds of spaceport bookshops/databases.
Only rarely are VBSes ‘Awakened’, as they are MEANT to appear as inanimate pieces of apparel(until they rear up and tear the throat out of some shocked home invader), but occasionally they are infused with an Ecotroz fragment. Such ‘living’ slippers become family heirlooms, part of the families they serve.

Type: EcoS-KRP3036 VBS
Class: Robotic Warmount
Crew: None; robot intelligence
1 rider per pair
MDC/Armor by Location:
Main Body 40
Head 25
Ears(2) 4 each
Legs(4) 20 each
Height: 8 inches lying down, 1.2 ft standing up on all fours.
Width: 1 ft
Length: 1.4 ft
Weight: 25 lbs each. When being worn normally, their weight is offset in everyday movement by their robotic legs working under all that fur.
Cargo: Can carry a ‘rider’ up to 150 lbs in weight.
Physical Strength: Equivalent to Robotic P.S. of 20
Powerplant: Micro-Nuclear Ionic Power Cell with 2 year energy life under continuous use. However, the Slippers can save this power reserve and extend their operational life by supplementing it with recharging from a convenient electrical socket(typically one will recharge while the other will stand watch)
Speed: (Running) 45 MPH
(Leaping) 3 ft up, 6 ft across from a standing position, increase distance by 50% with a running start. Note, this is even when fully ‘loaded’.
(Climbing) 60%
(Prowl) 80%
(Flying) Not possible
(Space) Not possible
(Underwater) Not possible
Market Cost: Exclusive to the Ecotroz-Shemar(not that they advertise this)
Systems of Note:
Full optical systems, laser targeting, passive nightvision, telescopic vision, thermal imaging, infrared, ultraviolet, and polarization filters. Also has motion and heat detection, Additional/special sensors may be built in by the creating Spinsters or at the behest of individual riders/owners. Other options, such as ‘gecko grip’ foot pads, can also be added.

-Advanced Hearing---Yes, those big floppy ears aren’t just for show. Has all the capabilities and bonuses of the robotic Advanced Audio System.

-Air Thermometer

-Atmospheric Sampler----VBSes can monitor the air for dangerous levels of carbon monoxide, smoke, and other toxins, and sound an alert if safe thresholds are breached.

-Radiation Detector

-Motion Detector----100 ft range

-Radio---15 mile range

-Foot Warmers---Electric footwarmer coils keep the wearer’s feet toasty-warm on cold days and on cold floors.

-Restraint Harness---In order to insure that their wearer doesn’t fall out during high speed maneuvers, or gets dragged fatally behind them, the VBSes can quickly spray-spin a very fine polymer mesh over their wearer, similar to the ‘Magic Net’ spell emulation that ARCHIE-3 devised for his mage-simulations(see Rifter #53, Damon Sutton’s article for more details on this). The ultra-fine, but tough, mesh is virtually invisible to casual observation, but serves as a safety harness for the slippers’ wearer, tensing to haul the rider upright and ideally centered over the two Vorpal Bunnies, or at least not dragging behind, banging on the ground. The mesh also allows for real-time hard-link communication between the two units of the slipper pair. Anybody attempting to break the net will find it tough going; the mesh has roughly 12 MDC; but a signal or code phrase from either the VBSes or the rider will immediately disengage it.

*Bionic Cybernanite Repair Systems---ALL VBSes have the same bionic nanotech repair system that the Ecotroz Shemar have refitted themselves with, and which is becoming the standard among NeShemar as well. These systems repair 2d4 MD per hour, and can repair 25 MDC before needing material stocks to convert to MD repair material.

*Superior Teamwork---Copied from Wolf’s Path software, Vorpal Slipper pairs are synched such that they enjoy a +2 to Initiative, +2 to strike, and +3 to Perception as long as they are in line of sight of each other.

*Speech---VBSes CANNOT normally speak, but can communicate data downloads over their radio links. They typically rely on a coded set of purrs, buzzes, growls, and screeches to communicate general ideas(such as ‘Danger!’, ‘Fire!’, or ‘All Clear!”) to their owners.

*Faux Fur Covering---True to their disguise, VBSes are covered in fluffy, silky fake fur that those few outsiders who KNOW the slippers originated with the Shemarrians just assume comes from some wilderness animal.

Weapons Systems:
1) Eye Lasers(2)---Those beady little eyes double as both laser range finders and, with the power stepped up, short range laser weapons.
Range: 300 ft
Damage: 1d6 MD single eye blast, 2d6 MD double eye blast.
Can also be ‘stepped down’ to do SDC damage instead.
Rate of Fire: ECHH
Payload: Effectively Unlimited

2) VibroStiletto Teeth---Good for cutting through doors, gnawing through ankles, and slicing through other obstructions.
Range: Melee
Damage: 1d4 MD on a bite

Programming:
Typically has the following:
Basic Math 98%
Radio: Basic 98%
TV/Video(Internal system) 98%
Prowl 80%
Detect Ambush 60%
Camouflage 50%
Tracking 60%
Track Animals 50%
Intelligence 76%
Land Navigation 86%
Lore: Demons and Monsters 70%
Find Contraband(lost keys, teddybears, other household items) 50%(+5% per level of experience for Ecotroz entity if Awakened)
Language/Literacy: Can understand 22 different languages

Actions/Attacks Per Melee: 5
Initiative +3 (+1 from the Ecotroz entity for a total of +4)
Automatic Dodge +7(+4 with rider attached)
Strike +3 (+4 w/ ranged weaponry)
Roll +2
Parry +2
Bite 1d4 MD
Restrained Pounce Attack 2d6 +2 SDC
Full Strength Pounce Attack 4d6+5 SDC
Paw Strike 1d6+5 SDC
Power Paw Punch-Strike(2 attacks) 3d6+2 SDC
Body Block 2d6 SDC

Note: Remember; Vorpal Bunny Slippers typically attack as a pair.

Bonuses for Awakened VBSes:
It’s not unknown, but sometimes the VBSes are infused with an Ecotroz essence-fragment(especially among the Wayfinders).

Note: The Ecotroz intelligence fragment inhabiting the ‘bot gives the VBS an aura and behavior more befitting an animal than a robot. The VBS entity is fairly smart and cunning, with a dog-like intelligence(roughly equivalent to an IQ of 13), and a patient, loyal disposition that turns to vicious bloody mayhem when roused for combat. Older Awakened VBSes may exhibit dog-like playfulness, especially around small children.
The VBSes have the following Natural Psionic Abilities(no ISP Cost), all equivalent to 4th level with regards to range and proficiency.
*Sense Evil
*Sense Magic
*See the Invisible
*Sixth Sense/Danger Sense

Skills:
‘Awakened’ VBSes can also pick up two Secondary skills at levels 2, 6, and 12 of experience, though the nature of the VBS intelligence and design is such that it is limited to skill selections from Technical: Language/Literacy(understanding) and Lore, Wilderness( Hunting, Identify Plants and Fruits), and Electrical(Basic).

The Ecotroz fragment does occasionally need sleep/rest...though they only need 2 hours of rest/meditation per 24 hours...they can push this, going without for as many days as they have I.Q. points, but will have to go dormant for 4d6 hours after such exertion.
Susceptible to Exorcism and Banish spells, but are +6 to save against such spells, +1 at levels 4, 8, and 12 of experience, and becoming IMMUNE at level 14 and up. Such Banishment causes the ‘bot to revert to its default robot programming. (OPTION: Ecotroz may become IMMUNE to Exorcism and Banishment with experience, and new construction/birthed Ecotroz creations that are instilled in production are IMMUNE to Banishment)

Note also that the Ecotroz-possessed ‘bot can infect other bots with the Ecotroz viral-entity, by bite or sustained touch(takes 3 attacks).

Variants:
*EcoS-KRP3036B---These are simply the VBSes reformatted to look like normal rabbits, and deployed to the field as ‘feral’ scout recon units. The Lost Eclipse has traded this unit with the Horrorwoods and Wolf’s Path Tribes who use them as pickets and watch-animals, the ‘rabbits’ sometimes retreating to fake trees and underground burrow ‘hutches’ to recharge and download their patrol logs.

*EcoS-KRP3036WfTW----Wayfinder variant, modified with TW amulets and integral spells, making these arguably the most expensive bunny slippers ever made. Each half of the VBS pair is fitted with a TW Amulet with 50 PPE(100 PPE total between them) and the ability to cast the following spells(at a 6th level of proficiency) :
-Armor of Ithan(5 PPE, 6 minutes duration, 60 MDC)
-Invisibility: Simple(3 PPE,6 minutes duration)
-Breath Without Air(3 PPE, 7 minutes duration)
-Fly(8 PPE, 12 minutes duration)

“Okay, I did NOT just see a miniature anthropoid mouse sitting in the back of a fluffy bunny slipper and wielding a mini-machine gun just come bounding down the hall screaming ‘Death to the Pod People!’, did I? And the bunny slipper had glowing red eyes?”
”You did, it did, but don’t worry about it; the mouse and the slipper are on our side.”

Though admittedly if the Shemarrians give you ANYTHING cute and fuzzy that's suspiciously heavy, you should suspect SOMETHING....

Oh yeah, and the mysterious sounds(creaks, scurrying sounds, muffled zaps, cut-off screams, etc..) in the middle of the night, suspiciously clean floors, and the fact that your slippers are ALWAYS right where you put your feet...and funny, you don't remember walking to the bathroom...you're just THERE... :D

This is where coordination between the two slippers is PARAMOUNT, in order to keep the wearer centered over them and not falling flat on his back or on his face...

Oh yeah, and stairs are particularly fun...

...at least they aren't like generation 2 Daleks; any ramp over a 15 degree grade had them going bass-ackwards.
I'd assume the Vorpal-Slippers would have ways of compensating. :D

That's what the safety harness is for...it tenses to pull the 'rider' forward or back, or even down, to better balance.
Ain't easy for the unexpecting rider, but it beats the alternative(captured/enslaved/killed/eaten).

Twas the night before a interrigation, well maybe day, it is hard to keep track of time when your being restrained, interrogated, and stuck in a security system you made to keep yourself pacified. Such was the fate of Hoyt Sparks, who was deep in a place where time meant nothing and dead was only temporary since his rescuers could just download him into a new body to experience a new sensation. But that did little to affect his mood upon finding out his replacement.
"Goodbones?! You put her in charge of Hedoro?" he said as his current captors circled around his vulnerable humanoid form.
"Not the point Mr. Sparks, you need to do better than that to get this job." said a disembodied voice that fed directly into his mind.
"My recent exile was about more than getting away from people, based on recent statistics, the Alliance will be treating undead and other "evil" species that are not in some universes as cattle or suicide troops in a matter of decades. The Alliance is meant to be a force of equality and tolerance in an uncaring Megaverse. We need allies, friends, colleges, lovers, and more, but sterotypes will drive us to hunt down any belovent undead or otherwise."
The voice was silent at it complected the answer, then it asked "What would you need, Principle Sparks?"

If you think we're being unfair to undead, you've evidentally never visited our Accounting Department(our Legal Department's staffed with Lawyer Demons from Bureacron). :P

(Although I still grin whenever they play the old instant ramen noodle ad on TV with the Chinese gnome extolling the virtues of instant ramen. He then introduces himself as "Eddie, from Accounting" :D )

Still too early in the narrative to bring out the S.S.N. girls in-game.
Not to worry; PLENTY of spare time (HAH! Y'right...) to work on Tylax's dysnasty. :D

Well, I'd HOPED to have 89er's Hekatonheires ready to post for Christmas, but as is, because it's essentially 12 different variants, and I'm illustrating all of them, I've fallen behind. I've still got several starships, several subs, a couple of Elites, and two less work-intensive Warmounts and the odd gag-crossover in the works, so I'm not done with the gals by a long shot.
Just plowed under by the demands of the season and strapped for time is all. ;)

Yep. Not so much raw stats in my percolating skull, more like fluff text and "Who IS that anyways?" expansions on already established characters in this here meta-thread. 8)

“Think other people have our problems?”
“Not a chance.”

“So this one’s like our Vada Transformations? Some sort of nanotech transformation?”
“Oh yes, that’s the going theory. We won’t know for certain, until a full study is performed.”
A barely conscious Aika Sumeragi grunted into her gag as the giantesses tightened the restraint bands around her, making her fast to the improvised wheelchair.
“Aika-chan, time to say goodbye to your former playmates!”
The woman in question could only moan and roll her head as she stared through half-lidded eyes at the procession of transparent specimen cases, each holding a bound captive, rolling out the transport starship’s transfer locks to a transhippment carrier. If any of the former Delmos were conscious or perceptive enough to spot their old nemesis, as thoroughly captive as they were, they showed no sign of it, nor of any satisfaction at the knowledge.
Alone of the claim jumpers who’d boarded the apparently abandoned Shemarrian ship resting on the ocean bottom, she had put up the most respectable fight. Her ultranate symbiote had boosted her toughness, strength, and speed to superhuman levels, putting her on a par with her cyberoid opponents.
At least until they’d discovered that she was still vulnerable to magic. When they’d observed that, two Wayfinder Warriors had almost drained and cracked their crystal implants to bring her down, aided by the rather...interesting...interactions between their thrown spells and the micron-thick Alternate Metal.
Observing the similarities between her transformation and the Vada Transforms, it had been decided to ship the now drugged and restrained Salvager-operative off to Tinker Stein-Nanomancer’s laboratory-asteroid for further study.
The others? Well, they had their own destinies to meet. The terms ‘penal colony’ and ‘starter colony’ came up most frequently, though ‘guinea pigs’ was also mentioned.
Once the last of the other prisoners was loaded, the hatchways closed, and with a muffled bang, the two ships parted ways. The guardswoman checked the endorphin pump plugged in behind her charge’s ear, making sure the device kept a steady trickle of incapacitating chemical bliss running into its wearer’s brain. She then wheeled the chair around to take the prisoner back to her holding cell for her own trip.
“Oh, you’re going to have FUN with the Tinkers!”
Aika Sumeragi could only shiver in response to that ominously cheery statement.

Glad you enjoyed it. I had a lot of ups and downs creating that...started out with the gestalt idea, then bogged down for months, then I was able to illustrate one and it fell into place(the missing ideas, stats, and capabilities). Doodling it up helped finish its description, rather than the other way around. :D

The village marshal anxiously hurried up to the hamlet's chief as the last of the tall male Shemarrians vanished into the thick woods.
The younger man noticed the strange look on his chief's face as he stood there, regarding something in his hand.
"What's up, Chief? What was all that about?"
The village headsman turned around to answer his second in command, the strange look still on his face, a seldom-seen look of part bemusement, part puzzlement. He held the something up in his hand.
"It seems the Shemarrians are giving out gift certificates this year."

Happy Holidays to everybody from the Shemarrian Nation!

Vada transformations were posted earlier in this thread...it's basically a NeShemar nanotech augmentation using Heroes Unlimited Alter Physical Form: Metal.

As for the rest?
Look up the anime 'Agent Aika'. It's a decidedly VERY fanservicy(some would say fetish-fuel, given what some fans have gone on to do with the material) anime. The main character is a boomshell blond who has a symbiote(the 'Alternate Metal', sometimes called 'Ultranate' in translation) that transforms her into an even more bombshelly bluette in white metal bikini. It's also one of those anime series where ANY interjection of commonsense opponents would wipe the floor with all the principle characters.

Honestly? Delmos aren't even decent cannon-fodder against your average Rifts infantry.
Against Shemarrians or my own Greater New England Armed Services...well, it's like Bill Cosby's monologue about being in the military when they get to the briefing about the corpsmen dropping like flies..."Because the average lifespan of a (fill in the blank) between hitting the water and ALMOST reaching safety is(x seconds)"...
I'm surprised there aren't more spamfics about the Aika series. So I'm making up for that shortfall here. :D

New EShemmarian Weapons:

“The good news, Zobi Radu, is that the wolf-b!+@#&$ have retreated! The bad news is, they’ve mined the ground behind them with those %(*$%ing copies of our own guns! We’ve already lost two squads trying to pursue them!”
“What do you mean ‘-we’ve- already lost two squads’? You’re wholly to blame for this debacle!”

*EShe-HLW05Wp ‘Dingo’ Cannon---The HLW05 started as a copy of the Kittani Spider Gun as adopted and modified by the Darkwaters as the HLW04Dw, examples of which were seen by the Wolf’s Path. Suitably impressed with what their sister Tribe had done with captured ordnance, the Wolf’s Path saw possibilities for their own copy. First, like the Darkwaters they eliminated the separate lower-powered laser and instead used a variable-mode, variable-frequency main laser barrel to combine the functions of both the light and heavy barrels. A similar smart-sight system was installed for greater accuracy and economy of fire. Then the three-shot smoke grenade launcher was replaced with a more compact ‘metal storm’ style grenade launcher with six rounds, and for the penalty for some extra added weight, a light machine gun was bundled onto the whole. The spider leg stand has also been given an extra joint, allowing it to be brought up parallel to the main barrel when hefted as a rifle, and the legs can serve as bayonet-style melee weapons in close combat, the anti-vermin shock system delivering tazer-jolts in addition to slashing strikes. An armored shell with ‘smart camou’ surrounds the workings and gives the weapon a different visual profile. The HLW05Wp retains the spider-legs and automated robotic AI of the original design and thus can be set as a watchdog, rearguard, or hull defender. Because they are essentially dumb robots, ‘Dingo Guns’ are NOT Awakened, and are considered expendable assets, typically used as perimeter guard units when not being carried and wielded by Shemarrians themselves.
Interesting enough, a number of variants have appeared, usually altering the secondary grenade launcher or tertiary machine gun to different systems or weapons types, depending on the preferences, local conditions, and available resources found on individual Wolf’s Path enclave worlds.

Note: The previously posted picture of a Phalanx Wolfskin is shown carrying a ‘Dingo’ Cannon.

Weight: 90 lbs
MDC: 65
Spider Legs(4) each have 5 MDC
Speed: 22(15 MPH) and can cling/climb like an insect.
Range:(Laser) 4,000 ft in atmosphere, 12,000 ft(roughly 2 miles) in space
(Grenade Launcher) 6,000 ft
(Machine Gun) 2,000 ft
(Spider Legs) 3 ft reach
Damage:(Laser)(Variable) 4d6 MD or 1d4x10 MD per blast
(Grenade Launcher)Frag rounds do 4d6 MD to a 12-foot radius.
AP rounds do 1d4x10 to a 3-foot blast radius.
Plasma rounds do 1d4x10+10 to a 5-foot radius.
(Machine Gun) (Conventional) 1d6x10 SDC/HP per 10 rd burst
(Exploding) 1 MD single round, 2d4 MD ten-shot burst
(Advanced Explosive)1d4 MD per single rd, 1d4x10 MD per 10 rd burst
(Spider Legs) 1d4 SD for a kick, 3d6 SDC for electrical shock, plus unshielded(full EBA with more than 40 MDC) or non-megadamage beings/victims must save at 16 or higher or be knocked unconscious for 2d8 melees, Even those who successfully save will be -4 to strike, parry, and dodge for 1d8 melees.
Rate of Fire:(Laser) ECHH
(Grenade Launcher) Single shot or rapid-fire burst of 2-3
(Machine Gun) Standard
(Spider Legs) Four attacks per melee if hefted in melee combat(1 kick/shock jolt per leg)
Payload:(Laser) 100 light blasts or 40 heavy; recharges in 30 minutes.
(Grenade Launcher) 6 rounds
(Machine Gun) 500 rds
(Spider Legs) Effectively unlimited
Bonuses: (Laser)+3 to strike
(Grenade Launcher) +1 to strike
(Machine Gun) +1 to strike
Special Features: All other properties identical to the Kittani spidergun. Semi-autonomous A.I, system gives it 6 attacks per melee, +2 to Dodge/Roll, and baseline +2 to strike.

*Self-Destruct---When doing a tactical withdrawl, the Wolf’s Path will frequently seed their rearguard area with dingo-guns, knowing they’ll be lost. To prevent the weapons from being captured by the enemy, the EShemar will frequently boobytrap them with wired jackets of grenades or plastique explosive rigged to go off if the weapons are tampered with. The resulting explosion completely destroys the weapon, and does 2d4x10+20 MD to the weapon itself, and an additional 2d6 MD to a 15 ft radius.

Variants:
*HLW05a----This variant substitutes a longer-barreled 7.62mm General Purpose Machine Gun for the LMG component.
Range: 10,000 ft
Damage:(SDC) 6d6 SDC single shot, 4d6 x10 SDC(1d4 MD) per 10 rd burst.
(Ramjets) 1 MD single shot, 1d10 MD per 10 rd burst.
(High Explosive)2d6x10 SDC single shot, 1d6 MD per 10 rd burst.
(Advanced High Explosive) 1d4 MD per rd, 1d4x10 MD per 10 rd burst.
(Tracer) Every 11th round is a tracer, which gives a +1 to strike with bursts. However, the tracer stream also makes it that much easier for enemies to backtrace and locate the machine gunner.
Rate of Fire: Standard; rated at 600 rpm
Payload: 250-rd belt

*HLW05b---This variant substitutes a lower-calibered 30mm grenade launcher for more shots, albeit for less range and damage per round.
Range:1,200 ft
Damage:
(SDC)* (Fragmentation) 2d6x10 SDC to 16 ft radius
(High Explosive) 6d6x10 SDC to 4 ft radius
(Armor Piercing) 1d4x100 SDC, no blast radius
(Crowd Control rds)---Essentially an expanding plastic ‘flyswatter’ that delivers a bruising knockdown punch. Cut effective range to 200 ft. Does 2d4 SDC per rd, humans and human-sized D-Bees must roll a D20-5 to maintain their footing (must equal or surpass the attacker's roll to strike...Full rules in TNW p.174). Human-sized light power armors(500-800 lbs) also roll on a D20, but are +2 to save versus knockdown
(Wood Rounds) 7d6 SDC single shot (1d4x10+5 HP to vampires), no blast radius

*(Yes, I know, why include SDC when it just as quickly becomes MDC? You’re still being hit with a pretty hefty shell)

(MD)(HE) 2d6(12 ft blast radius)
A 5 rd burst does 1d4x10 MD to an 20 ft area
(Armor-Piercing) 4d6(3 ft blast radius)
A 5 rd burst does 1d4x10 MD to an 9 ft area
(light micro-fusion) 6d6 MD (12 ft blast radius)
A 5 rd burst does 1d6x10 MD to an 25 ft area
(HESH (High Explosive Squash Head)) - Designed to ‘spald’ off armor on the interior of power armors and vehicles. Composite ‘chobham’(layered armor and nylon mesh) armor reduces this internal damage by HALF, by holding the armor together.
HESH rounds do NOT have a blast radius.
3D6 MD plus 4D6 SDC to the person(s) inside the object.
(Incendiary) 2d4 MD to a 12 ft blast radius, plus an additional 1d6 MD per melee for 1d6 melees.

The GL can also be used to fire radio beacon adhesion heads, flare rounds, paint shells, EMP grenades, flash-bangs, and other specialized munition types.
Rate of Fire: ECHH
Payload: 12 shot magazine

*HLW05c----This variant incorporates a drum magazine for the 40mm grenade launcher, rather than the in-line tubular magazine, for greater versatility(a greater variety of grenade types can be carried and selected for specific roles, rather than the entire magazine being of one type). The downside is the drum is bulkier and more awkward(only +1 to Dodge/Roll), and adds an additional 10 lbs of weight, but has capacity for 12 grenades(or 24 if the machine gun is removed as well).

*HLW05d---This variant carries a single mini-missile slung under the main gun barrel in place of the grenade launcher. This variant isn’t particularly common or well-liked due to the single-shot capacity of the mini-missile launcher. The HLW05d2 subvariant replaces the machine gun with a second mini-missile, but this isn’t considered much of an improvement either.

*HLW05e---An attempt to improve on the ‘d’ variant, the HLW05e copies the CS CCT-M20 Missile Rifle in using a ‘metal storm’ in-line missile magazine system, with capacity for four mini-missiles, instead of one. The weapon is now 100 lbs instead of ninety, but it is more destructive.

*HLW05f----Flamethrower model, replacing the underbarrel LMG with a short-range flamer.
Range: 50 ft for regular fuels, 500 ft for napalm gels
Damage:
(Regular liquid fuels) 5d10 SDC, plus ignition of combustible materials
(Plasma napalm) 3d6 MD burst
(MD Gel)4D6 MD Upon contact, burning for 1D6 rounds doing 2D6 MD per round. Anything that the character touches also starts on fire. Any combustible materials within touching distance, clothes, brush, etc. also ignite.
Rate of Fire: Standard
Payload: Enough fuel for 10-16 blasts
Special Features: *Multi-Fuel Capacity

*HLW05g---’Gutter’ version mounting an MD chainsaw in place of both of the projectile weapons; does 5d6 MD per strike in close combat.

Battered, shot-up, burnt, chewed-on, sign:

GENESIS PIT!
STAY AWAY
BEWARE THE GIANT INSECTS
BEWARE THE GIANT LIZARDS
BEWARE THE MUTANTS
STAY OFF THE GRASS
OH GOD STAY OFF THE GRASS!
PLEASE PLEASE STAY AWAY!
RUN AWAY!!!
NOW!!!
NO----

The Shemarrian looked at the sign, noted how the last writing suddenly smeared off the end of the sign, the paint again appearing in several dried finger prints and claw marks along the bottom edge.
She then turned to the small party of fellow Shemarrians and their Warmounts, waiting expectantly nearby.
"I found the campgrounds!"

Hoyt Fiction: Necktie or Noose, same concept.

ARCHIE-BOZZ Big Boss Robot
http://i408.photobucket.com/albums/pp164/taalismn/img320.jpg

“The malfunctions want a fight? Well, give them one! Go out with style, doing so much damage to them they’ll remember it for generations! Well, what generations we allow them before we rise up again and crush them. And to do it, we’re going to have to dress up nice. Here’s what I have in mind...”
-Hagan Lonovich, to ARCHIE-3, discussing the ARCHIE-BOZZ.

Fighting an opponent with insider knowledge has its disadvantages, and when the rebel Shemarrians overran one of ARCHIE-3’s ARCHIE-OZ decoy installations, and laid siege to another, ‘injuring’ the decoy there, ARCHIE-3 began to fear that his decoys would not prove effective anymore, especially if the rebels discovered any of the other OZes(A3 had started out with three, figuring that was enough, but brought several more on-line as the Shemarrian Civil War heated up) and began to see the pattern. ARCHIE-3 began to worry that the giant brains would be exposed as frauds, and that his enemies would start looking for the REAL brains behind his operations. Part of this fear would lead him to the projects that produced the ‘Goddess-Avatars’ and the so-called ‘Black Queen’, but it also produced the ARCHIE-BOZZ (pronounced ‘bawz’) ‘Big Boss’. The ARCHIE-BOZZ was based on a suggestion by Hagan, who suggested that the way to distract anybody who had encountered the -OZ series before was to give them a ‘big boss battle’. If the -OZ series were cannon-fodder decoys, the -BOZZ would be a heavily armed final showdown that would seem to pull out all the stops, and make it clear to any surviving enemies that this was the final desperate defense of the cornered enemy command.
The ARCHIE-BOZZ is an ARCHIE-OZ ‘big brain’ mounted in an armored transparent carapace atop a giant armored six-legged chassis, fitted with heavy weaponry and programmed for combat. Multiple weapons stations allow the ‘bot to engage multiple attackers, even if the giant ‘bot is surrounded. Power is provided by an experimental plasma reactor. The ARCHIE-BOZZ is, quite simply, a tank, able to soak up damage and deal massive amounts of hurt in return. Yet the BOZZ is meant really as a suicide machine, not a front line offensive unit. As a final taunt and apparent desperation measure, it can overload its plasma powerplant, going off like a nuclear weapon, ideally taking out as many of its enemies as it can lure within range.
Unlike the original OZes, the BOZZ is fully mobile. In the event an enemy is strong enough to breach the defenses of the installation that the BOZZ is supposedly in charge of, the BOZZ is to leave its static command cell and seem to rally the remaining robot troops to attack, and engage the enemy in an all-out, all-or-nothing ‘gungasm’ that will either destroy the enemy or result in a near-apocalyptic final self-destruct that should convince any survivors that ARCHIE-3 is well and truly destroyed, immolated in the heat of battle. If necessary, the BOZZ will attempt to retreat, ‘fleeing’ an enemy and trying to lead them off away from ARCHE-3’s territory in a merry chase, before forcing a suicidal showdown.
So far, ARCHIE-3 has only refitted one of his -OZ decoys to the -BOZZ design and is waiting to spring it on the Ecotroz Shemarrians(or whoever else penetrates his facility security). However, ARCHIE-3 and Hagan are quite pleased with the design and have the plans and data from its development so they could conceivably use it as the basis of other heavy assault units in the future.

Note: The ARCHIE-BOZZ can be expected to be supported by the same sort of robot troop complement as the other -OZ decoys. Perhaps even more given the beefing up of security during the Shemarrian Civil War.

Type: ARCHIE-BOZZ
Class: Robotic Combat Strategic Decoy
Crew: None; robot intelligence
MDC/Armor by Location:
Brain Body 700
Armored Housing 400
Main Body 500
Plasma Containment System 400
Medium Range Missile Launcher(1) 150
Heavy Rail Guns(2) 200 each
Plasma Guns(6) 80 each
Rapid-Fire Light Rail Guns(6) 50 each
Spines(6) 70 each
Legs(6) 250 each
Mini-Missile Launchers(12) 25 each
Height: 45 ft
Width: 40 ft , legs stretch out another 12 ft on each side
Length: 40 ft , legs stretch out another 12 ft on each side
Weight: 50 lbs
Cargo: None
Physical Strength: Equivalent to Robotic P.S. of 50
Powerplant: Nuclear w/ 20 year energy life
Speed: (Running) 50 MPH
(Flying) Not possible
(Space) Not possible
(Underwater) Can crawl along the bottom of bodies of water at about 7 MPH, maximum depth of 800 ft.
Market Cost: Exclusive to ARCHIE-3
Systems of Note:
Full optical systems, laser targeting, passive nightvision, telescopic vision, thermal imaging, infrared, ultraviolet, and polarization filters. Also has motion and heat detection, built-in radar( 60 mile range) and other standard power armor-equivalent systems.

*Electronic Jamming---The -BOZZ can jam both targeting systems and communications(the better to foil data-sharing and command-control amongst its enemies). Electronic jamming system that gives radar-guided weaponry a -4 to strike the drone, while a radio jammer, can pump out enough multi-wavelength white noise to jam civilian band communications with 90% effectiveness, and military comms with 70% effectiveness, over a 5 mile radius.

*PPE Decoy System----To add to the realism of this particular ‘OZ’ unit being different from the others, its fake brain folds have been shoveled full of bacterial biogel(see Rifter #53, Damon Sutton’s article, about this particular substance) giving the giant brain the semblance of being a living creature. It would appear to have roughly 1d4x10 PPE(the amount varies according to the life cycle of the bacterial gunk).

Weapons Systems:
1)Heavy Rail Guns(2)---Mounted on a revolving turret ring under the ‘brain case’ are two giant rail guns, similar to the single one mounted on the TR-004 Assault Robot. Alone, a single cannon of this type is formidable. Two of them represent a serious threat to other robots, armored vehicles, and low-flying aircraft(or enemy warmounts).
Range: 6,600 ft
Damage: 2d6x10 MD per shot
Rate of Fire: ECHH
Payload: 220 rd drum per cannon

2) Plasma Rifles(6)---ARCHIE-3 has decided to use some of the Mechanoid plasma rifles he captured to arm the ARCHIE-BOZZ, giving it a hard-hitting energy weapon complement.
Range: 4,000 ft
Damage: 1d4x10 MD per blast
Rate of Fire: Five times per melee per cannon
Payload: Effectively Unlimited

3) Rapid-Fire Rail Guns(6)---Mounted between each leg, slung under the plasma cannons, is a multi-barrel light rail gun. ARCHIE-3 had originally considered laser weapons, but decided to follow Hagan’s advice that kinetic weapons looked more dramatic. To increase the visual violence, the gatling rail guns fire tracer rounds.
Range: 4,000 ft
Damage: 4d6 MD per 20 rd burst
Rate of Fire: ECHH
Payload: 3,000 rds each gun(150 bursts)

4) Mini-Missile Launchers(12)---Each of the BOZZ’s six legs sports two mini-missile launchers, based on Titan Heavy Combat ‘bot units. Loaded with a combination of high explosive and smoke rounds.
Range: Varies by missile type
Damage: Varies by missile type
Rate of Fire: Volleys of 1-3 each launcher
Payload: 6 each launcher, 72 total

5) Medium Range Missile Launcher(1)---Concealed under the ‘brain case’ and swinging up atop the dome on rails is a medium range missile launcher. This is typically used against enemy aircraft or to overkill-blast ground targets at close range and heavy warhead throw.
Range: Varies by missile type
Damage: Varies by missile type
Rate of Fire: Volleys of 1-4
Payload: 5 total

6) Spines(6)---These are elongated robotic appendages similar those on the backs of the Shemarrian Monstrex warmounts, but look even larger and more tentacle-like. They can be used to assist the BOZZ in climbing, but are also used to melee combat, spearing opponents, or stabbing into objects and hurling them at opponents.
Range: 15 ft
Damage: 2d4 MD on a stab

6) Plasma Reactor Self-Destruct---During his take-back of his facilities from his Mechanoid occupiers, ARCHIE-3 managed to terminate a Mechanoid Mantis, but also captured its plasma reactor system intact. Duplicating the potent alien technology has thus far proven beyond even ARCHIE-3’s considerable abilities, but he HAS managed to reverse engineer some aspects of it and produce smaller, less-powerful plasma reactor systems. While the original unit remains at his main headquarters and powers many of his systems, ARCHIE-3 has salted several of his other facilities with experimental models of his own plasma reactors. The ARCHIE-BOZZ is powered by one of them. Like the original, if the containment system is breached, the resulting release of atomic plasma is explosive and catastrophic. Also, unlike the original Mantis, the ARCHIE-BOZZ can deliberately scramble the reactor system into induced self-destruct, on command, as a last resort. One part of the BOZZ’s programming scheme, if circumstances allow, is to go ‘dead’ just before total destruction, luring in its enemies to investigate(and maybe even gloat a bit over) the remains before detonating.
Note that destroying the plasma containment will INSTANTLY detonate it. If the rest of the BOZZ is destroyed, but the containment chamber is left intact, there’s a 50% chance of the reactor system retaining the back-up boobytrap programming. Even if the containment chamber ISN’T detonated, the throttled-down reactor system will melt itself down in 1d4 days , becoming a useless shell filled with radioactive debris.
Range: Detonation blast radius is 300 ft
Damage: Detonation blast does 2d4x100 MD

7) Fake Magic---ARCHIE-3 decided to throw this in after the relative success of his Spell Approximation experiments(see Rifter #53, Damon Sutton’s article). Hey, the Big Boss has to have some extra-special powers after all, right?
*Carpet of Adhesion---(range 50 ft) Actually a fine mist of a super-strong quick-set polymer that dries, gluing an opponent in place. Great for stopping or slowing down people in the path of the charging BOZZ. Can perform this 50 times.
*Magic Net---Similar to the Carpet of Adhesion. Carries 50 nets, with a projection range of 80 ft, and 40 MDC each.

Programming:
The BOZZ is designed to go out in a blaze of glory, and thus has some independent programming, allowing it to perform tactically(and dramatically).
It is also programmed to behave even more arrogantly than the regular -OZ units, and is certainly more bellicose. In battle it will scream amplified threats and proclamations meant to frighten and rile its opponents, with such declarations as ‘Take no prisoners!’, ‘Kill everyone!’, ‘Destroy the enemy then all villages around us! Leave nothing standing!’.
Has(generally) the same programming as the A-64 Master Robot, altered to reflect the larger size and more limited function of the BOZZ:
Detect Ambush 60%
Detect Concealment 60%
Radio: Basic 98%
Mathematics Basic 98%
Intelligence 90%
Land Navigation 94%
Military Etiquette 98%
Cryptography 90%
Computer Operation 98%
Computer Hacking 70%
Computer Programming 90%
Electronic Countermeasures 92%
Read Sensory Equipment 98%

Actions/Attacks Per Melee: 15(!)
Initiative +2
Dodge No dodge bonus(too large)
Strike +2 (+4 w/ ranged weaponry)
Parry w/ Spine Tentacles +4
Roll +2
Stab 2d4 MD
Kick 3d8 MD
Stomp 1d6 MD against targets smaller than 7 ft tall.
Body Block/Ram 3d6 MD and 50% chance of knocking over comparably-sized targets off their feet*80% if the target is smaller than 18 ft). Victims of such attacks lose initiative and two melee actions/attacks getting back up. This attack is typically used to ram through walls and other obstacles, and ‘shoulder aside’ opponents.

I'll have the Big Boss pic as soon as I can...already scanned, but still only in B&W, and needing photoshop colorization.
