HU super powers which seem less inhuman than Intangibily ?

Unread post by Axelmania »

When I think about reactions that Psi-Ghosts get, in terms of people being frightened of what those mutants can do...

Obviously some stuff might seem "more inhuman", like perhaps Lycanthropy or Tentacles because even though they're less invasive (can't walk into your locked house) they alter the human form and can bring up some primal fears.

I'm thinking in terms of CS reactions.

In some cases powers do things which psi already does, just with unlimited duration and no mitigating ISP cost:
    Possession v Mentally Possess Others
    Invisibility v Invisible Haze
Force Field v TK Force Field
Personal Force Field v Psychic Body Field
    CEF:Fire v Pyrokinesis
    CEF:Water v Hydrokinesis

given we know the CS tolerates psychics who can produce similar effects, while I think they would be more wary of mutants capable of doing this stuff indefinitely (ISP and durations make things more predictable, less threatening) it seems within realm of possibility they might be tolerated the same way indefinite Intangibility is?

"tolerates" is probably a little strong. they log anyone with minor psychic powers and objectively ban mind melters and other powerful psychics unless they're recruited explictly for their military (and those are still massively in the minority). the smart logic is they would be banned by definition unless whoever is recruiting for their psychic division finds them to be an ideal recruit- which is to say a gullible nationalistic pawn then can indoctrinate into solid loyaly to the point of willfull self-sacrifice.

the problem with writers trying to "solve the magic problem" is really more of a problem itself at this point.......

Clock Manipulation

Thou the player needs to get creative when they use it. Like slowing down the clock in an energy weapon's regulating computer to make it explode/melt due to over-charging the capacitors. Or speeding it up so the shots are reduced in damage. (crit. read to recognize the presumptions in the last two sentences.)
Or speeding up the clocks in time locks on vaults/doors to let them be opened off schedule.

Color Change

Make a transparent window in a wall to shoot a laser though and closing it before anyone else can shoot back.
May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.
Each question should be give the canon answer 1st, then you can proclaim your house rules.
Reading and writing (literacy) is how people on BBS interact.

Tolerance is of course always a subjective thing. They're allowed to live and probably have slightly better rights than D-bee labor camp slaves, but that's more tolerance than a lot of monsters get.

Agents can still be useful without needing to go that far. The main thing is you can guide them to serve your goals, regardless of how enthusiastic they are about doing them.

If that were possible wouldn't certain forms of literal invisibility (not the psi suggestion kind) also allow that for lasers?
