:? We have had a modicum of success in using non-standard racial types as super-powered characters in various trial runs. I wanted to have a bit more of an eclectic mix to our group and was looking at the Pneuma-Biforms from Rifts: Underseas. I just wanted a neutral party's opinion on whether these creatures would be too overbalancing in a standard HU setting with Mega-Heroes and villains being fairly common. Thanks.

It's been too long since I've looked at Underseas.

But my general opinion is: There's almost nothing that could be
too powerful/unbalanced if there are Mega-Heroes involved.

It's been a long time for me too. Aren't they whales & dolphins who can shapechanged into humans? If they are, like Aquaman, for most of my campaign, they'll be like **** on a bull.

They REALLY shouldn't be to bad, but you're going to have to have the GM make sure to keep the game near the ocean so the player isn't left hanging.

Dave: They're getting away!

Nightboat: Look Dave, there's a Inlet!

Bart: (commenting on the show) There's ALWAYS a river, inlet or Fjord, Nightboat is so lame

I personally love the idea of the Biform characters, and have used them in my HU campaign extensivly since acquiring the Underseas book. I like a lot of the other OCCs and RCCs presented, and nothing gets "unbalanced", 'cause I can always use the Lord of the Deep as the bad guy (and I've done that too...)

when you get right down to it, Sentinel's right.~Uncle Servo.

Sentinel. you'll be always loved by the German Princess.~Nelly

That's twice in one day Sentinel has cleaned up my mess.~The Galactus Kid.

That's the best place to start. Otherwise, listen to Sentinel~lather

Well, considering the fact that in HU you already have characters that can turn into a whale/orca/dolphin (Animal Metamorphosis: Any And All Animals), my gut reaction is to say that a Biform character shouldn't be that much of a stretch. Just remember Stoker's suggestion of keeping the game near the ocean whenever possible.

Of course, since he and I are both in one of your campaigns we may not be what you'd consider 'neutral opinions...' :D
