Hilariously.

Mutant animals crawling around the ducts of the SDF-1, snatching up the deck crew. Hardware villains stealing rations from the innocent citizens of Macross. Super-serums turning regular pilots into homicidal maniacs. Superheroes in capes getting sucked into Veritech engines.

That's an intriguing thought experiment. It starts with this simple question: What if the S.D.F. 1 crash-landed on Heroes Unlimited Earth?

My first thoughts are for the Robotech technology being M.D.C.. I like mixing M.D.C. into an S.D.C. environment, so my thoughts in this matter may not appeal to others. I'm going to just flat-out rule for the purposes of this crossover, that the M.D.C. capabilities of Robotechnology are only possible due to protoculture. Without it, M.D.C. is not possible. M.D.C. weapons must be powered by protoculture, and M.D.C. materials must be made following the alien, protoculture-powered processes revealed through study of the SDF-1

My second thought is the placement of the Robotech Masters and the Invid within the Milky Way Galaxy community. The Space Folding technology gives me an "out" there, as it lets me say they haven't been a factor in this galaxy until the SDF and Zor's dying vision ultimately brings them back here. But being from other galaxies makes them an unknown in the Milky Way, and also a disaster when they DO show up.

On Earth, when the SDF initially crashes on Macross Island, I can see the nations of the world banding together as in the Robotech saga. Teams of world experts sent to investigate would also contain various Hardware specialists, Natural Geniuses, and those with Extraordinary I.Q.. They descend upon the wrecked vessel and are able to better understand it than the "regular" geniuses of the Anime series. Also as a departure from the Anime, various Evil Villains constantly scheme and plot to acquire their hands on this amazing technology. Thus in a short matter of time limited M.D.C. technology finds its way into villainous hands and eventually, heroic hands.

Those familiar with Century Station may wonder, "what of the Covenant?" If you don't know what I'm talking about then just skip this paragraph. Here's how I feel the early days of the crash go down in regards to the Covenant. Alpha Prime wasn't on Earth when the crash happened, leaving Earth to deal with it on their own. The U.N. teams of assembled specialists are already on site and reporting their preliminary, revolutionary findings by the time Alpha Prime returns. She and her Mega-Hero goons descend upon the SDF-1 crash site and try to enforce the Covenant, but this time the Earth doesn't let her bully them. With the aid of others who have become versed in interstellar law ever since the Project Daedalus incident, they successfully argue that this technology, while alien to Earth, appears to be from another dimension rather than another planet in the Milky Way. With no way to prove this isn't tech from another dimension, legally, this ultimately means this particular alien tech can't be confiscated by the rules of the Covenant. Alpha Prime handles this very poorly, which results in Earth severing diplomatic ties with the rest of the Alien community. This push back against the alien community, coupled with the obvious threat the SDF-1 represents, pushes the world to unite and deny the Milky Way access to any of this unheard-of technology. This will hurt both sides eventually, and Alpha Prime's career starts a death spiral here that never recovers.

The complications of villains, coupled with the legal drama that Alpha Prime instigated, means that despite the enhanced understanding of the alien tech capable by the various geniuses of the Heroes Unlimited world, they are roughly in the same place tech-wise as the standard Robotech scenario once the Zentraedi arrive. Though M.D.C. stuff is out on the (black) market, and there have been rudimentary attempts with limited success to use protoculture to directly enhance superhuman powers to M.D.C. levels, there isn't enough of it that heroes or villains are appropriately prepared for the attack. This makes the attack on Earth and what happens next happen pretty much the same way it does in the Robotech saga. Due the alienating the Milky Way community the Earth isn't helped much, if at all, and they are on their own to deal with this.

Throughout the course of the long trek back from Pluto after the failed Space Fold, eventually protoculture's interaction with humans is understood enough (thanks in part to seeing how it can micronize the Zentraedi) that devices which can enhance superhuman powers to M.D.C. levels are built (think similar to Shock's special gauntlets, but protoculture-powered). This gives the Heroes Unlimited Earth a tremendous advantage against the Zentraedi which finally causes the most significant timeline split - Admiral Glover doesn't need to sacrifice the SDF 1 to destroy the Zentraedi upon their return to Earth. The Earth doesn't get mostly destroyed in a devastating attack.

Meanwhile, in Deep Space, the Invid Regent has taken his forces into the Milky Way and are encountering the Atorian Empire. The Atorians suffer loss after loss and the weakening of their power structure throws the whole Milky Way community into chaos, but also spark cooperation as desperation to resist the invaders overcomes the old political divides. They, too, eventually start to "discover" M.D.C. processes on their own, but their discoveries are limited to massive tech (like ship armor and main ship weapons) and gruesome, "inhuman" experiments that result in things like Splicers or Skraypers Bio-Freaks (inspired by captured genesis pits and invid experiments).

The divergence of the timeline of the first war means that Earth is in MUCH better shape by the timeframe of when the first Robotech War was supposed to end. Diplomatic relations with the Alien community have repaired to a point, and with the chaos of the Invid in the Milky Way the Earth decides to help. The Expeditionary Force that was gearing up to go take the fight to the Robotech Masters is instead sent to the front lines of the Atorian Coalition in order to help turn the tide of war. In this scenario, it's the Earthlings who have the high-level tech and the alien community eager to receive it.

Battle-weary in a different way, the arrival of the Robotech Masters throws the Earth into new chaos, though they recover and handle it better. This war doesn't last as long either, though it ends in the same way with Zor Prime causing the spread of the Flower of Life over the Earth.

That of course draws the Regis, and instead of a one-sided fight that results in the formation of rag-tag groups of resistance cells, THIS becomes a long, protracted war between the resources of the Regis and the remnants of Earth's defenders. Battle-Forged rather than Battle-Weary, the Regis finds this Earth will not just roll over for her as her visions may have predicted. But she fights for the future of her race, and won't back down.

Eventually, due to the creation of the Stage 5 Invid, the Regis can eventually be reasoned with but what that compromise ultimately is I'm not sure of at this point.

I think there's still some gaps to iron out here, but this is kind of my first pass thoughts at a Robotech Unlimited campaign.

This idea is what I would go with.

The other I thought of would be having the crash trigger the "latent" powers in the earth's population due to exposure to an alien energy (proto-culture). With this option The Macross would have to have orbited the earth for a bit (polar, rotational or anti-rotational) before crashing. And maybe, the ship was more damaged during the battle it auto-folded from the combat sent it to earth then in the RT series. And the IFoL spores were thrown up when it 1st crashed. And they ether took root somewhere and/or triggered the super powers.
May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.
Each question should be give the canon answer 1st, then you can proclaim your house rules.

Now, Gaby, what's -your- take on this? Flesh out your idea as much as you can, using both worlds at your disposal. How does your mash-up of both universes go?

Protoculture leakage into the atmosphere as the ASS-1 crashlands causes super-powers.

Protoculture allows for massive amounts of genegeneering and allows for all the goodies from TMNT and other strangeness to be utilized as well as all of the stuff from HU.

Robotech Masters are from Galaxy thers a Wormhold the links the two,the FDS-1 cane out of it and folded to Sol,The Covenant have One exception a Prophesy made by the Elder race that set-up the covenant, that say a Evil from another Galaxy will come,To stop that Evil a Not Space faring must have a Ship that crash lands on ther planet why Alpha Prime allow Earthers to have the FDS-1 and MTC made contact.
Zentraedi,s ship looking for the SDF-1 cane across Atorian Empire,s ships and Atorian attacked, starting a War between them, another Zentraedi contact with Far and made them stay Neutral.

That what I have for now.

You also do not need to follow Heroes Unlimited and Aliens Unlimited,s canon.
Use the New Hope Adventure from Rifter 60 is also Good.
A big number of The Refugee,s ships survives and trade ther techwith earth in exchanged for Sanctuary.
