reverse ratbomb

Unread post by eertbarc »

okay crazy thought crossed my mind a moment ago and I I just had to share. what if a mad librarian converted a mass number of rats into organic rat bombs designed to rapidly breed, seek out and only explode when in the presence of robots. crazy right.

I'm totally expecting the next Splicers book to include engineered rats that are designed to trick regular rat bombs into thinking they're in the presence of humans/cats/dogs so that they detonate prematurely.

I don't care about canon answers. I'm interested in good, well-reasoned answers and, perhaps, a short discussion of how that answer is supported or contradicted by canon.

If I don't provide a book and page number, then don't assume that I'm describing canon. I'll tell you if I'm describing canon.

cool, I was going the direction of crippling the machines cable snakes, Sewer Prowlers, and Skitter Pods.
but that works to.

reverse ratbomb
no one knows how they came into existence . whether a stray mad thought by a crazed librarian or the brilliant idea of a sane one, it's hard to tell. it seems that they reproduce even more of themselves. they seem naturally attracted to the cable snakes, skitter pods and sewer crawlers, but will explode when near any amount of metal weighing more than 20 lbs. while this may seem a boon for the resistance they make no distinction between the machines forces and the tech used by technojackers, causing much angst for them, or any significant amount of metal and have caused many a building to collapse. injuring anyone or anything inside. even worse is that you can't tell the difference between them and regular ratbombs, making them extremely dangeres to try and pinpoint and capture.
Class: organic Vermin Bomb.
M.D.C. by Location: Not applicable.
Hit Points & S.D.C.: The typical rat has 1D6+3 Hit Points and
IDS S.D.C., increase by 50% if exceptionally large.
Natural Abilities: Night vision 200 feet, can leap four feet
high and six feet across, are excellent at Climbing 75%/65%, Acrobatics 40%, Prowl 85%, and Swim
70%.
Running Speed: 6 mph.
Size: 9-19 inches long plus a long tail, and weighs 3-7 lbs.
Power System:organic animal with a life span of 1-4 years.
Trade Value: None! (can't tell the difference between these and normal ratbombs)
Number of Attacks per Melee: Two; bite does 1D4 S.D.C.
Combat Bonuses: +1 on initiative, +3 to strike with biting attacks,
+3 to dodge and +4 to roll with punch, fall or impact.
Weapon Systems:
1. Internal organic Explosive: There is an explosive organ in the
center of each Rat.
Primary Purpose: robot destruction.
Secondary Purpose: materials destruction.
Mega-Damage: 1D4x lO M.D. to a 10 foot (6.1 m) radius, 50%
greater damage if the rodent was at the feet or base of the target.
Rate of Fire: One, destroying the rat with it.
Maximum Effective Range: Blast area of 10 feet (6.1 m), but the
rodent can travel hundreds of miles before it is detonated.
Payload: One.

here's the stats for any one who wants them. modified from the original ratbomb and edited to try and not provide any stats from the book. the last thing I want to do is infringe on copyright or break the forum rules. enjoy.

the reverse ratbomb could have some means of luring other rats... and lead them to the machine's factories and warehouses, then release chemicals that make it seem like they are in close proximity to humans :)
