The Cat is out of the Bag!

Unread post by Premier »

Well, the cat is out of the bag, sort of speak.

I was just asked by fellow poster, Pepsi Jedi if a print seen on the left side of the picture taken a Gen Con was mine...

http://palladiumbooks.com/images/Images ... CF4338.jpg

…and, yes by all means it is.

Therefore, I decided to post a better view of this painting on my DA account for all to clearly see and what to push for.
http://chuckwalton.deviantart.com/#/d5dkmuw
(double click for best results)

Actually this painting was done about 2-2.5 years ago if I remember correctly, Slappy may be able to correct me as I sent it back and forth with him for critics and adjustments. Just goes to show that many things can and indeed are going on behind the scenes that many are unaware of.

It is the upcoming cover for one of the 2013 SPLICERS sourcebooks.

It entails an Outrider squadron leader, riding a new panthera styled (clouded leopard, jaguar, etc.) War Mount engaged in deadly combat against a new machine that has been hunting them on the outskirts of a ruined city (or is it vice versa as they both are supreme hunters)? I wish I could give more details on these deadly new items as they are already stated and written up, but without knowing what the final edit will sate, I have to leave you all with wondering for now...

Enjoy and feel free to comment below and please just continue to support & let Palladiumbooks know how bad we want this source material to be published! :D

Thank You Flatline,

I penciled the illustration on a bristle board 14 X 17 and then scanned I in and digitally painted it in Photoshop. I referenced the Hunter machine and the clouded leopard (Neofelis Nebulosa) for a more realistic feel. The background I figured should be that of sickly dying or slightly dark natured atmosphere. We wanted to make sure that this cover would help promote the game line and illustrate both signature facets of what SPLICERS entails.

Nice!

Great to hear Panomas,
It is such comments like yours that also lets me know that WE are on the right track as well. I truly believe Splicers has been slept on and may have been overlooked for some time and were hoping to rectify that with not only quality art but I believe the writing & concepts that expand will expound this gameline are actually better than the art.

Yesiirrrr. You were one of the few who actually got this painting before everyone else and I can’t help but wonder what you were wondering it was about? Lol
Hopefully, it got you pumped up a little bit for Splicers, but just wait till you see what else is in store for this game, I’ll tell ya, I don’t know which side I favored more the Splicers or the Machines.

Tell me about it! 2013 will be a major year for the Splice & Palladiumbooks! I really think WE can hit a target of 4-7 (4-5 realistically) SPLICERS titles for 2013.

Good point! I didn't say it, it was a NEXUS mimicker device that was trying to tap into my Living Body Armor. Good thing you found it. Whew! Need to get my Gorehounds back here on the double. Never know when more of those blasted NEXUS drones could be lurking...

This image is amazing.

Could you answer a few questions?

+What kinds of new biotech firearms and melee weapons could be in the future?

+Do the robots take some inspirations from other Palladium settings, such as Rifts?

+What is omega 16?

+ Is it possible to convert Rifts mecha, power armor, and tech into tools of NEXUS?

+Does senator Teigs need a hug sometimes?

+Have you checked out Last Stand from Funhaver, it sounds up your ally?

Ah... Yeah, you might wanted to take note of the cover statement. Being that there is likely to be several sourcebooks spliced the script Slappy & I turned in however, means there is another cover for me or someone to do as well. First inline, I think there are a few Gorehounds that are seeking to beat ya there.

Why Thank You 89er!

Could you answer a few questions?

Sure, I can try...

+What kinds of new biotech firearms and melee weapons could be in the future?

A lot of em of various types and variables, Slappy took care of that department very well. However, There is no telling what will and won't make the edit.

+Do the robots take some inspirations from other Palladium settings, such as Rifts?

We based the robots designs off of their designated functions and the Personality(s) responsible for their constructions. We wanted something special & signature for Splicers.

+What is omega 16?

Shhhhh... that's classified.

+ Is it possible to convert Rifts mecha, power armor, and tech into tools of NEXUS?

With a plethora of designs that NEXUS uses to manufacture, it is no limit to what new or historic productions they may have in their databanks. We didn't submit anything for such conversions, but who knows what Kevin may add for such game play crossovers. Is it something you would want NEXUS to have?

+Does senator Teigs need a hug sometimes?

The last I heard she got married, though I also heard her husband was MIA on his last sortie in some Preserves. Slappy knows more about her current status & desires.

+Have you checked out Last Stand from Funhaver, it sounds up your ally?

Not yet, but if your recommending it then I will be all over it.

Cheers,

Chuck

I use robots and power armor from both Rifts and Robotech all the time in my game to represent various NEXUS designs. Its a great idea.

HOORAY!!! The cat has come out to play!!! CANNOT wait for this to see the light of the day. Fingers crossed and a whispered prayer to the gaming gods that this helps get Splicers the attention it deserves. And a ton of praise goes to you, Premier and to Galactus Kid. I sincerely think your artwork and ideas and GK's amazing Rifter articles have gone a long way towards bringing attention to an overlooked game.

ffranceschi wrote:Then I asked myself: why didn't I get into SPLICERS RPG sooner? The answer was: because the cover wasn't this one!

ffranceschi, that is so true. I had overlooked Splicers for the longest time simply because of its cover. No offense to the artist however, I don't think the cover truly captures what's in the game. Based solely on the cover, it looked like some kitschy, 1950's style sci-fi setting (of course, that could be fun too.) If a gaming store in Kansas City hadn't been selling it at half off, I may have overlooked it entirely.

krispy wrote:a huge THANK YOU goes out to Guy_LeDouche for proof reading the article. his help was invaluable

 Thank you krispy, it was my pleasure. And I'll add another +1 to the "congrats" count. Its great to see this one going to print. The more Splicers stuff, the better. I'm can't wait to see what kind of artwork goes along with the article.

My apologies for not acknowledging this sooner; Mrs. LeDouche and I had to tackle an unplanned impromptu relocation, an unexpected trip out of town, and massive project at work that is coming to an end.

2013, year of Splicers.

SPLICERS is sure to grasp major attention for this awesome RPG with such an opportunity for advertisement. What an awesome way to get the Splice awareness out to the masses. Daily Deviations are a sure way to get the Splice to become viral. I actually need an awesome synopsis write-up to post on my Deviantart account for all the growing interests and new Spliceheads to focus the energy for this RPG.

Thank You Tremendously for the support Ffranceschi!

You have skill, but you cannot claim the title of VatFather until a brood of gore puppies has been drawn. Why, you ask? An artist must not only be able to create eyeball popping images, they must be able to make people gain a warm fuzzy feeling as well.

Even Kail may squee when she sees the brood.
