This is fairly typical of pump action shotguns used by police for riot control. Calibre: 12 gauge. Feed: Single shot (pump action). Weight: Under 7 1bs. Cost: 900; prices for lower priced models could be as little as 300. Damage: Buckshot does 4D6 per round. Solid slug does 5D6 per round.

TX-16 Pump Rifle
Through high technology and miniaturization, these explosive rounds are fired at a great velocity, providing long range, and the comparatively tiny shells contain a powerful explosive charge.

If the explosive charge of the Pump Rifle was replaced with S.D.C. shotgun pellets or solid slug, would the increased velocity of the ammo increase the damage? If so, how much?

IIRC the pumprifle rounds have a U-round option. i'd say a slug round would do similar.
