The politics subforum is unwanted, as shown by its complete lack of activity except when threads get shunted here. Why are threads still being shunted here?

I want the subforum. I just don't usually have anything political to post. "World governments still corrupt. News at 11."

The subforum is pointless. If the mods were as strict about moving everything to its appropriate forum as they occasionally (ie once every month or so when someone complains about stuff that nobody else is upset by) are about moving stuff to the politics subforum, there would be no Sound Off.

And come to think of it, that might even be a good thing if we started getting pedantic about threads in Sound Off. It would liven up the everloving bejesus out of Gamers Who Like More Than Games.

I was wondering where everyone had gone.
Since I'm not where everyone else is...

Because apparently there are topics that are at least tangentially political in nature that need discussing and apparently end up in the wrong subforum on a regular basis?

I think a better question is "why do you feel the need to ask this in several political subforum threads"? Surely if Palladium felt the topics had no merit, they'd simply lock the threads and perhaps throw around a few cursory bannings for good measure. Y'know, make examples of people?

And this is coming from someone who returned to the forums and immediately thought "man, someone needs to hit these forums with wading boots and pruning shears, because a lot of these stickies are old."

Edit: and I agree with Sir_Spirit. This is simply laying the groundwork for some revisionist history down the road.

Edit2: I will, however, concede that a glance at the first page makes it seem less like the "Political Arena Subforum" and more "The Fat_Ninja Thread Subforum".

Sound Off is the unofficial 'Everything else including politics' forum we have here. You have to go under usergroups in User Control Panel to request access to it.

I'd have less problems with a "Politics" forum, if it was open to everyone, rather than a ghetto of Sound Off.

To my understanding, only people who can get into Sound Off can get into the Politics forum.

This subforum is restricted?

I just looked on a non-signed-in browser, and pretty much the whole just for fun forum is absent from the forum list.
Interestinly, this board is accessible if you type or paste the URL, but all the other JFF (including other games and gamers who like other stuff like long forum names) are blocked.

I'd say it can't be to blocked if people who aren't Sound Off Members are posting.

Apparently I've unintentionally found a security vulnerability called "the forum search function". >.>

I'll look into this.

Actually, what's really funny is that we still see it in the View Unread Posts link, even if we're not a member of the usergroup
