Savage Rifts® Conversion PDFs reminder from Sean Owen Roberson – We’ve had some of you reaching out to us to ask if pre-orders are eligible to receive the Savage Rifts conversion PDFs for Titan Robotics™ and the Cyberworks™ Collection. Many are Savage Worlds fans who have had their interest piqued by Rifts® for Savage Worlds and are unfamiliar with Palladium’s general way of doing things. First off, welcome! Second, I’d like to make a few points to help clarify everyone’s expectations:

  • There are technically two Savage Worlds Adventure Edition (SWADE) conversion documents. The first is the Titan Robotics™ SWADE conversion. The second is the Cyberworks™ Collection SWADE conversion, which was a stretch goal that Kevin and I decided to grant to all backers as an early Christmas present. For brevity, I call the docs “Savage Titan Robotics” and “Savage Cyberworks” but be advised that these are purely rules conversions, they won’t mean much without the context of Palladium’s Titan Robotics™ or Cyberworks™ Collection sourcebooks.
  • Palladium Books, unlike Pinnacle Entertainment Group (the makers of the Savage Worlds RPG), does NOT release PDFs for public sale immediately upon the release of print books. Without getting technical about business strategies, etc., please just respect that our two companies have very different market approaches.
  • This means that crowdfunding campaigns and pre-orders that include PDFs are often a unique chance to purchase PDFs at a discounted pledge or pre-order bundle price.

Both Savage Rifts® conversion documents are strictly Kickstarter rewards, HOWEVER the Mechanoids® (and therefore the Cyberworks™) content is especially so due to our current licensing agreement with Pinnacle Entertainment. I was super duper clear about this during the Kickstarter and all of the related interviews, but it seems new fans still got confused and were under the impression that these items would be put up for sale as PDFs as soon as they are finished. This is definitely not the case. That said, we’re bummed if any well-meaning fans get left out of the fun due to what seems to have been a fairly common misconception. – Sean

Palladium Collectibles – at Kevin’s Online Toy & Collectibles eBay Store

I am adding new collectibles and Palladium negatives over the next several weeks, so check ‘em out. Alex and I will try to post new items on a regular basis, so check in every week or so to see what’s new.

One-of-a-kind Palladium Books negatives (special and rare collectibles). Negatives are always very popular items at the Palladium Open House, Gen Con, and conventions, and are catching on as rare collectibles, unique in and of themselves. Before digital printing, pages of a book were laid out by hand on a board, and each page was photographed. The plastic film negatives were then “ganged” on a massive sheet of Mylar, 16 pages per big sheet, and the printing plates were made from the negatives – everything white, printing black. We have been cutting them loose and making them available to you. I am only keeping a few dozen pages of negatives and a few complete books for myself, the rest are all being slowly offered to you, in no particular order.

  • Each is truly unique, attractive, and fun to have.
  • Own a piece of Palladium Books and RPG history you will treasure.
  • Each was used to print the very book you may have in your collection (1981-2004).
  • Each signed in silver ink by Kevin Siembieda, the founder and owner of Palladium Books. He is also the game designer and often the author or co-author of the book from which the negative originates. And some negatives bear his artwork.
  • Each signed negative comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
  • Each signed negative is a one-of-a-kind work of art (on rare occasions, two-of-a-kind if a page or section of pages were replaced or a second edition was made) that resembles woodcut art, and a very dynamic conversation piece.
  • Each signed negative is on a white board inside a clear plastic bag.
  • Negatives looks fabulous matted or framed! Fits in an 8x10 inch matt opening. Each neg is roughly 8½ x 11 inches.
  • Prices vary depending on the title, the art, and quality of the negative. Note: Many have scratches, or blemishes, and/or an opaque medium on the negative. Still, they look great and are a piece of RPG history. We recommend you carefully examine the photographs of each item to avoid disappointment.
  • We have been making the negatives available, in no particular order, for a number of years, and will continue to do so. However, cutting them loose, signing and bagging is a time consuming process.
  • Note: The negatives from the TMNT RPG, TMNT Adventures, and some Rifts® titles are already sold out. Moreover, the negatives from many titles were destroyed, so when you see one you like, get it when you can. Enjoy.

Original art – My Ebay store is one of the few places where you can find original artwork by me (Kevin Siembieda), Kevin Long, Charles Walton, and others, as well as one-of-a-kind negatives from classic Palladium books (they look awesome framed), and other Palladium memorabilia. Some are concept sketches, others are finished works of art, as well as a selection of prints and posters.

Closing Thoughts – Happenings at Palladium

I hope everyone is healthy and happy. I was knocked out of commission by food poisoning or a stomach bug the better part of a week. First time I’ve been that sick in a long time. I will spare you the gruesome details, but I may need to beef up game penalties for things like diarrhea and dysentery. Ah, but I have been back on my feet and rockin’ n’ rollin’ for a few days now.

Sean and I have been quietly working on a number of important projects and all are moving along nicely, including one that we hope will come as a happy surprise. Of course, this includes book titles you know are in the pipeline: Titan Robotics™, The Cyberworks™ Collection, Rifts® Bestiary Volume 2, Rifts® Antarctica, Yin-Sloth Jungles™ Expanded & Updated, and others. Releases will begin launching in June and continue throughout the summer. As for the big secret project, please cross your fingers we can nail it down because it will make many of you very happy.

There is other cool stuff boiling at Palladium as well. Like a new, upgraded website that should go live later in May. See, all types of things are in progress behind the scenes.

Likewise, I’m trying to add negatives, original art, and collectibles to my Ebay store on a regular basis. Alex should be adding some things by the weekend.

Mother’s Day is this weekend, so please make time to spend with your Mom, especially if you have a great one. I was 12 when I faced the possibility of losing my Mom; the same age that my father lost his own Mom. The monster my Mom faced was cancer. A battle she lost when I was 34. She was my friend, my confidante, my mentor, and most of all, my Mom. Every moment we shared is now a precious memory. Palladium’s warehouse manager Crystal, 22, lost her Mom in April. Her Mom battled different demons which made their relationship challenging. Still, she is missed and this weekend will be a hard one for Crystal and her family. If you still have your, Mom cherish the time you have with her and all the people who matter in your life. Let them know how important they are to you, how much they mean to you, and spend time with them. Trust me, that time, those moments, in the end, they are worth more than all the money or possessions in the world. And the time you take to call or send a card, or buy a little something, and most of all the time you spend with your Mom means more to them than diamonds.

We hope their weekend and yours is filled with happiness, friends and family. I wish you sunshine and a beautiful spring day but it looks like a bunch of us will be seeing a rainy weekend.
